Musicm8 and Touch

Anyone know how to update the software on the musicm8 to squeezebox server 7.5.1?

My touch can see the musicm8 but when i click to access it it says i need to update the software on the music8 to 7.5.1 but i can find no instructions on how to do this

if i log on to the musicm8 and click squeezebox i am prompted to update to 7.5.1 but it takes me 2 link of download choices and i don't know which to select or how to go about upgrading it?

Any help this eveing would be greatly appreciated

i updated the firmware on the musicm8 to 715 which claims is up to date with squeezecenter 7.4.1 but my touch is already running 7.5.1 which i am guessing is why i am having issues and that the squeezebox is telling me to update but i can't see anyway to update the software

You do need SBS 7.5.0 or later to use the Touch, and as you note, the latest version of the musicm8 software only has SBS 7.4.1. I don't know any details about musicm8, but it looks like a pretty closed system. Have you contacted the musicm8 people to see when they will update their software? After all, SBS 7.5.0 has been out for a few months already.

This, I'm afraid, is one of the downsides of buying into a closed system. Unless you can get root access to the command shell, you're at the mercy of the vendor to update the software.

i emailed them yesterday - bit annoyed as I would have thought it fairly basic to just update the squeezecenter software moving forward

didn't realise how closed this wsa going to be - I just epxected the basics to work afterall it says plug and play not plug and play if you want to live 12 months behind everything else

was going to buy a nas but just thought this would be better for my lounge bacause of the rip drive now regretting it!
