    Receiver won't factory reset

My new Duet receiver will not connect any more after a power off/on cycle.
My last resort was to try a factory reset, but after powering the receiver up I just get a slow flashing red - holding down the button for (ever) has no effect. Any suggestions welcome.

Yeah, I have got the same problem. I have tried to factory reset the remote, but it has not helped. I cannot find the receiver using the remote. This is using wifi.
    Thanks.

I also got one receiver with the same problem - pressing the reset button has no effect. My other receiver works fine. Strange..

Is it possible the receiver is parked on a "wired" configuration?

    Please look and tell:

Mine isn't on a wired connection. I tried a wired connection after this fault occurred, but you can't get anywhere unless you set it up with the Controller first; but the Controller can't find it.
Because others have the same fault I'm guessing that it's a firmware hang condition. I called support for a return authorisation but they said that they had no spare receivers in stock. When I suggested that I send it anyhow and they could send me one when they came in they said that it takes a long while before return replacement stock is replenished.

    Hi guys

If you press and hold the front button for more than 10 seconds the LED should start to blink quickly (red), then let go of the button and wait until it blinks slowly (red) again. This does a factory reset.

If you have a notebook with wireless you can try to see if the Receiver correctly is in setup mode by searching for wireless networks.

You should see one with an SSID in the form "logitech-squeezebox-<mac>" where <mac> are the last three blocks of the mac-address printed on the Receivers label.

If you see this SSID with you notebook your Controller should also be able to see it when you either do a factory reset on the Controller and go through setup or if you go into Choose Player (in case your Controller already is setup).

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for your input Felix.
With this fault factory reset does not work. At power up the receiver goes straight into slow red flashing. No amount of button hold down will induce a reset i.e. fast red flash then back to slow. No SSID is broadcast - my Controller used to see 3 networks - my wireless router, the neighbours, and the receiver if it was in setup mode. Now the receiver is never seen. Tried my laptop searching for networks and it also only finds my router and the neighbours.
The receiver worked OK for the first week and I set it up with the Controller several times, so I am familiar with how it should work. But I powered it down one evening when an internet radio station was streaming in and it has never worked again since power up the next morning.
My guess is that the long press of the front panel is normally detected by receiver software (i.e. firmware) rather than a wired hardware reset, and the firmware is stuck in a loop where the button is either not checked, or disabled. I base this guess upon the fact that others also have the same fault.

    Hello again

Hmm, very strange. I am pretty sure firmware isn't looked up because if it was the LED would not blink at all (not even slow).

There is a factory test for the LED, button and sound you could try.

Unplug all cables from your receiver - power, network and audio. Especially audio as this test makes sound at maximum volume and I don't want to blow your speakers.

Press and hold the front button, then apply power, then let go of the button. The LED then cycles through red, green, blue, white, off repeatedly. To stop just unplug power again.

If that doesn't work either it suggests the front button is broken.

    Thanks Felix
Holding down front button during power up was one of the things I had previously tried - no effect.

I have seen another post about a user-written utility for setting up the receiver via the wired network connection, and considered trying that, but that also relies upon the factory reset working. And, I don't have enough skills in networking and software to mess with my network/computer setup and maybe lose my Transporter music as a result of unsupported utilities.

I am an electronics tech but don't want to void the warranty by opening the unit to check the button, so it will just have to go back.

Have you tried removing the battery from the controller? You might try this along with removing power from your receiver, router and modem. Also, be sure you are logged in to mysqueezebox.com. You can check that with a computer.
