Hi,
I am wondering whether there exists an application/gadget for Windows which would allow me to send an internet link to be streamed to the Squeezebox. By this I mean the following:
When browsing in (say) Firefox, I see a link to a podcast/mp3 file I would like to hear.
I then right click and an option such as "Play in SC" sends a CLI instruction (or similar) to SBS telling it to play that link location.
Thinking about it, I am not sure whether an option to open a URL even exists within the web interface.
The reason for this is that my laptop's speakers are not great and I like to listen to things I find on the internet through the proper sound system. Right now I download and access the laptop's hard drive with Music Folders, but this would be much neater.
My SBS is running on a separate machine to my laptop, btw.

The web-UI has tune in URL .
In squeezeboxserver's web interface , internetradi > tune in url
This works, given that you find a proper url for, for example an radio channel.--------------------------------------------------------------------

At one time, Ben had a Greasemonkey script to do what I think you want. I can't seem to find it right now though. Not sure if it's still available.

That would actually be pretty cool for podcasts and such.

and click on download, right click on the download button there and paste that link into Tune in URL.

Thanks for the reply - I'll try that. So you can only stream something that's downloadable, yes?

No, you can also stream a real stream, i.e. a radio station or similar.
It basically all boils down to the server sending the correct MIME type as a response to the link request. If it's something like mp3, then SBS will handle it without problems. With m4a or aac it doesn't really work unfortunately.
