Hi,
when I try to play music via the line-in jack + mp3-player, the sound volume is much too low. I turned the volume knobs of both the mp3-player and the SBR to maximum, and it was not even 50% of the maximum volume it delivers in 'normal' mode (wireless streaming of internet radio or music library).
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have also experienced this. Don't know of any fix, but I find the volume level acceptable only when both devices are at or near their maximum output.

More information please?
Could you provide more details? Make and model of MP3 player? Artist and name of track being played?
Thanks!

This is probably the same issue as on the boom.
There is a gain (volume) setting on the line in input that is at 50% by default ( so as not to clip the ADC with a "hot" input ). If you up this value to a larger value, you can then control the output volume with the normal (output ) volume.
See these threads in the Boom forum ( as the radio uses a similar internal architecture)

I have the same issue when plugging any source via its headphone socket into Radio. It is down to the fact that the headphone socket on devices isn't designed to output a line level signal and the Radio's input is expecting a line level signal.
The Radio could do with a gain control on the input, like the Boom has.Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ?
I SAID ALL OF THEM !

feature request?
@MickeyG: the make and model of mp3-player was an iPod touch 2nd generation; Basically all songs I tried were not loud enough (though they are very loud when heard with headphones plugged into the iPod).
@Grahame and andynormancx: thanks for the information. I just searched for the settings of the line-in-gain in order to increase the default value of 50 as suggested in the Boom-thread
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...ht=line+volume),
but the option is not available for the SB-Radio (neither within the Squeezebox Server settings on my computer, nor via the Radio itself).
Can you please tell me where I could file a feature request for this?

You file requests for enhancements at the same place you file bugs. You can tell people you have done it and ask them to vote for it. In the case of the Radio, it's: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/enter_bu...uct=SB%20Radio
