SqueezeIR Support Thread

I have similar trouble as well.
Yesterday (for other reasons) I had to do a factory reset of my
Controller. Now I realized that the repository
http://www.woodbine.me.uk/squeezebox/repo.xml is not accepted anymore
because of "Redirection limit exceeded" (and indeed, that URL redirects
A LOT!).
I still have the plugin installed locally in my SBS, but the controller
does not pick it up as available.
So, due to the Controller reset I am now without SqueezeIR.
I assume those problems are present not just since yesterday, but it is
yesterday I realized it due to me resetting the Controller.

I solved my problem by doing a factory reset of the Controller. Also, I had forgot to set the right permissions on the SqueezeIR folder in Squeezebox Server (see one of my earlier posts in this thread).
I think you should mention the CHMOD/permission thing in your installation notes, indifference_engine - otherwise I will keep forgetting it every time I have to reinstall ;-)

New Repo
The SqueezeIR repository has now 'officially' changed to <http://www.btinternet.com/~douglashill456/squeezebox/repo.xml> as it looks like Google had done something to their hosting services to stop the old repo from working. I just changed the repo in the SBS plugin settings page and everythng continued to work as normal.
Some people have experienced problems in that SqueezeIR fails to show on the Controller's Apllet Installer list after the repo has been changed although I haven't had that problem. Performing a factory reset on the Controller seems to get round the problem (which is probably due to a bug in the Applet Installer).

It doesn't work on my other controller either, and I'm reluctant to do a hard reset before exhausting every other avenue.. Is there perhaps a manual install method that doesn't require a degree in Computer Science to comprehend?

Yes
No
Seriously, you can install the applets manually, there's a wiki article on it here http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph...zePlay_Applets and you'll need the SqueezeIr files from the SqueezeIR website (Files page) and possibly (depending on your os) some SCP software. Win SCP (from the link on the wiki) is fine for windows. You may find that manually removing SqueezeIR and restarting the controller may get it back on the applet list without having to do a manual re-install. I think the Applet Installer may be getting confused by having the repo move??
I have updated the version number on the repo (but no actual change to SqueezeIR) to try and trick the applet Installer into getting the message so it may work for you now...

OK I have the applet installed, but I now need to get it working with the Meridian speaker system (Uses the Meridian MSR remote) - Are there any config files for these kicking about somewhere?
