Question Minimum download speed for streaming

I am having problems with my cable internet provider, and want to switch to DSL with 6 MBPS download speed. Will I be able to stream music off of the internet succesfully at that speed?

I measured the size of some of my 320kbps (VBR) MP3 files, and calculated that the average data rate over the playing time is ~30KBps (KBytes/sec) so a 6Mbps connection should be fine. You may get a slight delay for buffering.

And you have to add that most internet streaming is well below 320kbps.

Yes, that will be more than enough. Basically 1 Mb/s will work fine, too ....
