Sorry, missed that bit of your original diatribe
mysqueezebox not recognising or connecting to players is a very common problem and usually a call to SB/Logitech support will sort it out.
However, if you think your volume control and alarm issues on the Radio are due to the firmware then just go back to 7.4.2 and forget about mysqueezebox.com for the time being. As long as you have a decent server that you don't mind leaving switched on, then there really is not much point to it.
I have to disagree with iPhone re "it must be your network". He is a great guy and has helped me a lot in the past, but he seems to have a rather selective memory. I remember when Logitech introduced (IIRC) 7.3.3 the release notes gave a long, long, string of routers and access points where "incompatibilities" had been fixed. The Controller's DHCP implementation in particular was very flakey and often failed to pick up an IP from my very popular Netgear router, unlike every other of the 8 networked devices I owned!
If you were very lucky because you owned a router that was compatible, then you would be left wondering what all the fuss was about. If not, you would be tearing your hair out in frustration. I would not be surprised if these kinds of hardware incompatibilities creep into major firmware releases like 7.5, which I gather has involved a lot of fundamental changes under the hood.

You can see in the radio and controllers diagnostic menu if it got ip, dns and knows about mysqueezebox.com etc so DHCP issues should be easy to pinpoint.
That said I've long ago gone over to static ip on all network stuff that is stationary, and I mean static not reserved ip by the dhcp in the router.--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks once again - your help is appreciated! Sorry for my late update - I've been busy with other problems (life isn't easy...).
Great news is that I was able to connect my duet receiver to mysqueezebox.com thanks to my SB Radio - I thought that if my Duet controller wouldn't help me connect my receiver to mysqueezebox.com, then perhaps my Radio would. So I used my Radio as an controller for my receiver - suddenly my Duet controller asked for my email and password, and started to download a new firmware update! After that I had some problems, because now my Radio wouldn't work - it could only see the Duet receiver, and not itself (Radio was not listed as an option). Tried to reset my receiver, controller and Radio, and tried the whole procedure once again and it kind of work now. It is even possible to synchronize the two units! It is however irritating that I can't control the Radio with the Duet controller - that wasn't a problem a year ago.
Squeezebox is probably the most weird acting piece of electronic I ever had - you never know what it might suggest and you can be sure it won't be the same after you try to reset the units. Sometimes the Controller suggest making a direct connection to my receiver, but most of the time I don't get that option - instead it wants to search for wireless network and only that! I can reset the units perhaps 20 times before I get the other option again, and that drives you insane of course. Radio also has a mind of its own - sometimes I saw a message that I should connect the Radio to baby.squeezenetwork.com (and how do I do that and why should I do that??) but the message disappeared quickly, and it seems to me that it wasn't necessary after all.
I still got the spinning wheel, which in my opinion makes the product useless - often you need to mute the music, or do someting else that needs a fast respond, and then you are stuck with the spinning wheel for several seconds or even minutes! I can see that there are still problems connecting to mysqueezebox.com, but it was nice to see that I was able to get a connection, and that there is no problem with my network or router (although I already knew that....).
Let's see if it works tomorrow - you never know... Still need help, but I can't pinpoint what it is because the problems are very random.

1. What you tell us might also be interpretable in a way that the SC has problems with your router...
2. I had similar problems when I ran SPS on a low-performance server. Now they are gone, since working with a faster and clean machine.
3. About fast muting with the SC: The best workaround would be to install the SqueezeIR Applet to your controller. If the controller goes nuts again, you can still use the onboard IR to mute, control loudness, stop, next, prev or whatever you configure your profile. In the thread for that plugin you should find a profile that does all that fine for me...NAS: QNAP TS119 Version 3.2.6 build 0427T (1,2GHz,512MB)

Press reciever button = Pause/Mute
If your Duet Controller is sleeping or suspended and You want to quickly mute just press reciever button (diode).

Thanks for your help.
1. I don't think so because as far as I know the controller connects to the receiver (and that is connected via cable directly to my router). Remember I didn't experienced these problems I do know a year ago - same router but new firmware.
2. No server is connected yet.
3. Thanks for the tip, but would prefer if it just worked... why do we have to use so much time installing, resetting, etc. - I just want to hear music!
Was able to hear music today... but controller doesn't respond at all when I try to pause, adjust volume etc. - lost connection to mysqueezebox.com after 15 min. (would be nice if the receiver could reconnect automatically...)

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the controller use the router to connect to the receiver (afaik it usually only directly accesses the receiver during initial setup)? I would thus not rule out any router trouble (especially if you have upgraded the router's firmware recently).Last edited by copperstate; 2010-05-31 at 15:52.
