Does the Squeezeplay desktop (linux or win) software have the ability for local file playback without a separate server, like the functionality of the Touch?
Is there a location that the software is looking for audio files? Before I got squeezeplay connected to my server i got the screen recommending attaching a usb HDD or a SD card. I know the touch has a version of the squeezebox server running on it, but i guess it could be a separate installation not included with squeezeplay desktop.
any ideas? I would like to test the server capabilities of the touch and if squeezeplay replicated this it would be great.

you need to have SqueezeboxServer running on the PC as well. If you do then you can just use the PC. AFAIK there is no way to use TinySC via SqueezePlay,
