I have been working on converting 1940's radios into computer controlled
jukeboxes. I have a desktop and a standup one nearly finished using
touch screens, LCD screens to control the software. I plan on using
Squeezeplay as the frontend to the audio. What I had planned to do is
let the touchscreen sleep and use the 4x20 LCD screen to display the
currently playing song. I got the USb LCd last fall and had it working
showing this using LCDsmartie last fall but then ended up redoing both
completely in a manner that made more sense. Well, I am at the
finishing stages after wiring up switches and all in the original
location and the LCD only shows "no server". I verified the LCd smartie
settings and then read that the plugin uses the CLI to get the data to
display. I am using an nlite'd version of XP pro but tried it all on
Win 7 Ultimate too and got the same result. I can use Softsqueeze,
Moose, and Squeezeplay on both computers just fine... So what am I
missing? What services in Windows are required to access the CLI? Did
anything at all change concerning something like that being able to
access the server with the changeover to 7.5.1? Any ideas what to even
check?
The big radio is a Philco 41-608 and the touchscreen fit perfectly in
it without looking too out of place. So if I do not have the LCD on it,
it wont be as big of a deal. The small radio, though, is a Philco
(forgot model number... late 40's though) and I have the touchscreen on
a sliding mechanism so that when you do not need it, the touch screen
tucks into the body and you just see the radio. So having the LCD
showing the currently playing song and all is essential.
Anyway, I am open for ideas... If anyone can point me to what is wrong,
I would greatly appreciate it. And if anyone is interested abotu the
radios, let me know and I will fill you in as they both should be
complete by the end of the week.
