I'm suddenly getting this error on a station pre-set Favorite (KLAC - Los Angeles).
Now that I think about it, I believe the only other time I've received this message was on another Clear channel station (KFI). Eventually I was able to receive it again. Would this be a common factor for a reason? I can listen to KLAC's stream on the computer here at work, but it hasn't worked on the SB for 2 days...
thanks in advance,
Dave

Kfi 640 am la
Hi, I have been on the phone for 3 days intermittently with KFI, Clear Channel, Radiotime and at least 20 times with Logitech. This is what I think has happened. KFI has changed their streaming audio to AAC. I have 3 Squeezebox booms and neither have been able to receive KFI since Monday. As I try to put everything together it comes out like this. The Squeezebox booms hardware can not handle the AAC format audio by itself. You need to get it through the Sqeezebox server that is on your computer. That means you have to have your computer on all the time to hear KFI. This defeats the purpose of having the squeezebox As far as I am concerned. Clear channel will be switching all of their stations over to AAC in the future. I am guessing they have over 600 stations here in the US. SOme of the European countries now are converting to the new format. I can not get an answer out of Logitech which or if any of their products can handle the new streams and this is after about 20 calls. Unbelievable.

Clear Channel probs
thanks for looking into this...I guessed it was something along those lines. sure wish Logitech could address this, as the AAC format seems to growing in usage. I'm back to my regular clock radio because this is what i like to wake up to! Indeed, ridiculous.
will try with my SB Server...
thanks!

Touch and Radio should be able to handle AAC by themselves without a local server.
And any coming product based on the same platform (SqueezePlay/SqueezeOS).
In hindsight it probably was due time to start developing a new player platform a couple of years ago.
The old cpu has been around since 2005 and have no room for AAC codec (it has been asked before).--------------------------------------------------------------------

So what's the latest on this issue? Is an update required to be able to listen to clear channel stations with the SB radio? If the SB radio can handle AAC then why won't clear channel stations work properly?

To play the Clear Channel stations the Radio needs an URL which provides an AAC stream.
RadioTime provides the database of URLs for the Internet Radio Search menu. Curently RadioTime provides a correct AAC URL when Radio is connected to a local SBS but does not provide an AAC URL when connected to MySB.com. So the problem is with the MySB.com to RadioTime request for a playable URL ( I think MySB.com omit to say that AAC is an acceptable format for Radio ) and not the Radio itself.
This is a user forum - open a bug report if you want this problem fixed.
The workaround is to create a Favorite on MySB.com with the AAC URL for the station you want to play.Last edited by bpa; 2010-05-26 at 00:46.
