I just removed my wireless card and the unit powers up perfectly. I'd like to know where I can find a replacement wireless card too. I understand from other threads that the card needed is a TP-Link TL-WN560G.
I am currently using my unit wired via ethernet with no loss in functionality, so I'm not at a complete loss.Last edited by Sithuk; 2011-06-10 at 12:40.

The TL-WN560G was discontinued by T-Link a few years ago. Two or three years ago I bought two on eBay and used them to upgrade non-wifi SBs bought on eBay. Watching eBay for the last couple few months has shown none for sale. And when I bought mine they were not sold as TL-WN560Gs but as replacements for use in the Dell Inspiron 300M or 4000 laptops; when I received them they were in fact TL-WN560Gs.
In Googling for them the only place that I see offering them for sale is by two companies on Amazon UK that are in the UK. But their shipping information on Amazon UK indicates that they only ship to Europe. I have sent a couple of emails to each asking if they would ship to the US but never received a reply. So, if you live outside of Europe, then they are out of the running. If you do live in Europe or know someone in Europe then you should check Amazon UK.
The only other chance is to find a broken down SB2/3 that has a working card.
Good luck,

One thing I forgot to mention when talking about buying a card for the Dell Inspiron. When I bought my cards, which were described as being for the Inspiron, they indeed were TL-WN560G cards but I do not know if they were ever a card that Dell used. When I look at cards on eBay that are described as being for the Inspiron they have chips that are other than the Atheros chip used on the TL-WN560G (AR5212). Broadcom, Intel or other chips will not work in the SB since the SB is programmed solely for the Atheros AR5212 chip. Be careful when buying a card for the SB!

Ralphy,
I could not tell you about the AR5002 chips ability to work in the Squeezebox. The only other chip that I have heard about that might work is the AR2413 but I have not seen any mini PCI cards using that chip. I just ordered two cards off of eBay and will be trying them but I do not hold out much hope. One has an AR5BMB5 chip and the other uses the AR5BMB-44 chip; they are due towards the end of the week (~6/17/11). I will test them in one of my units and post back here then.

There is one here: http://www.pcengines.ch/wlm54g23.htm
I haven't tried retrofitting an SB3 with a wifi card so I am making no representation whatsoever. This is just a hint.4 SB 3 • iPeng (iPhone + iPad) • SqueezeLite • Squeezebox Server 7.6.2 (Debian 6.0) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput by bpa • IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) • Server Power Control by Gordon Harris • Smart Mix by Michael Herger • PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple • Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson • Just Covers by Tom Kalmijn • WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld • Local Player, BBC iPlayer, SwitchPlayer by Triode • Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins.

Everyone,
I finally received my cards from eBay. The seller, when I contacted him via email, had indicated that he had sent them two weeks ago although I had not received them on Friday the 17th of June. He could not give me any tracking information on that package but he did send replacements that I received yesterday. I really do not think he sent the original package.
Some good news and some bad news. The AR5BMB-44 card does not work. Either it is bad (I have nothing to check it in) or the chipset is too different for the SB2 to use. I suspect that it is the chipset since, rather than having one large shield, it has two smaller shields which I take means that it has two chips in the chipset. I have read that Atheros had/has one chip chipsets and two chip chipsets. The TL-WN560G has a single large shield. And the AR5BMB5 card that I received has a single shield and works in my SB2!
There are currently some cards with the AR5BMB5 chips for sale on eBay. And interestingly some of the sellers list the card as using an AR2413A AR5005G AR5BMB5 chipset. A picture is shown with the shield removed and the part number on the chip is AR2413A. There are also cards for sale listing only the AR2413A; many more AR2413A cards than AR5MBM5. Even though I now have a working AR5MBM5 card I am going to order one of the AR2413A cards and test it; as I mentioned in an earlier post Sean (founder of Slimdevices) had mentioned that he thought that the first cards used were using the AR2413A chipset.
I will get back when I have tested the AR2413A card,

Everyone,
More information. When I tried to order an AR2413A card I could not find a US seller so I am going to order it from China; especially since it is only $7.50. It will take a couple of weeks to get it. Another interesting thing is that none of the boards being sold have a label indicating that it has an AR2413A; there are no recognizable numbers on the card. I mentioned that I bought an AR5MBM5 card but I cannot/don't want to remove the shield on it since it is soldered to the motherboard; I really wanted to see what chipset is in it. I was hoping that it was detachable like the shields in iPhones but alas it is not.

Everyone,
I just received the 2413A from China and it works!! For those of you that need a replacement card this is one way to go. It is cheap but it does take a couple of weeks to arrive. But the one I received does work.
