It has taken me a while to respond because I have been communicating with Ripcaster to get me sorted.
Unfortunately all of the suggestions they offered have not worked so I am still left confused and frustrated.
To be clear and answer your question as accurately as I can...
I am connected to squeezebox server (on my local network which is just one iMac). The receiver and controller work OK together, so I have access to my music folders.
I am registered with mySB.com and you were correct that the reason it shows not connected (for the reciever) is when I am using the local network only. If I use the handset to change libraries it will show the receiver as connected in mySB.com.
BUT it also shows "player" as not connected. First question is, does player refer to my handset or do I only need to have receiver connected?
The original reasons for posting are still here. I cannot get any artwork to appear. I have created a new folder (called albumart) and placed it with the music folder that contains my music files(WAVs)which is on my external HD attached to the imac. Each of the images are titled with the name of the album underscore the artist underscore and a looong number string allocated by itunes I guess and ends with.jpg
I have set this folder in the preferences in my preferences and clicked apply. I also restarted the computer as requested after altering some other settings.
Still no images appear. My itunes library shows them all but nothing n the duet.
Second confusion is that I can listen to 'net radio while the computer is on (and I am connected to local network) but when I switch the computer off (afer switching to mySB.com) I cannot access any music stations. It says HTTP not found or timed out. Iv'e also noticed that if I turn off the receiver via the handset controller (it goes off) but when the computer is turned off the receiver comes back on again and shows a blue light. Sometimes after a while it will go out and sometimes is stay on all night. I cannot control it with the controller in this state.
Hopefully this gives you a clear picture of my situation. I am more than happy to realise that it could just be user error and after a few stting changes be up and running, but the amount of time and frustration this has caused me so far is enormous. I am resisting sending it back because so many people are running it without glitch.
What am I doing wrong?
Please help

Hi
Is the artwork showing when you play music direcly from your imac? (not the external HD)
Not sure if I misunderstood but my artwork .jpg's are located within the same folder as the music is and doesn't really mean what the artwork's file name is.
Regarding your internet radio problem, this is very tricky as it kind of streams internet radio through your mac when your connected to the mac's library. when you switch to mySB.com then you simply go to favourites in the online account and add your stations so you can access them directly from remote in your favourites section
it may not seem very logical at the beggining but even internet radios are associated to the library you choose
hope it helps

I cannot really help you with regard to mySqueezeBox as I don't use it myself (I have a NAS acting as a 24/7 server) so will let others give you advice on that.
Regarding artwork, I suggest you get a program like MP3tag or Tag&Rename to add artwork to your music. These programs open up the tag information in each music file and allow you to edit it and "embed" the artwork in the individual file, which makes it completely portable.
If, like me, your music is stored in separate folders for each album then you can put a single JPG or PNG picture of the cover art in the same folder, label it "folder.jpg" or "folder.png" and SBS will pick it up and display it when playing any music in that folder.
For instance I keep my music in a folder structure:
Music/[genre]/[artist or composer]/[album]/[Track No - music file.flac]
for instance:
Music/Rock/Coldplay/Parachutes/5 - Yellow.flac
or
Music/Classical/Beethoven/9th Symphony/1 - First movement.flac
In each album folder there is a picture of the cover called "folder.jpg".
I also embed the cover art in each music file anyway so I am covered all ways!
The downside of course is that I have about 500 files on my computer all called "folder.jpg" with no way of knowing from the name which album it relates to. Hence the reason I embed the picture in the file as well.
If you don't really keep ablums as such, just individual tracks, your only reliable choice is to embed the artwork. Practically all music formats can embed artwork including AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC and MP3. WAV files do not accept tags however.
Good luck with the mySB problem. Have you tried a complete factory reset?
p.s. A very good source of high resolution album covers is http://www.allcdcovers.com
I much prefer it to the nasty little thumbnails available from the likes of Amazon.Last edited by TheLastMan; 2010-05-11 at 07:27.

Follow-up:
Just noticed that your music files are all WAV format. That would preclude the tagging option. As you are a Mac user I strongly suggest you convert these to Apple lossless format. Not only will they take up a lot less space on your hard drive with no quality penalty, but they will also be able to accept Tag information and embedded artwork.
iTunes can do the conversion and so will dBpoweramp - probably the most powerful music ripper and format converter there is, albeit not the most user friendly software!Matt
