Hi
Is there a option to set the usb harddisc into standby after a defined time (hdparm available?).
I was not able to find a option nor to find the hdparm command in the console. Is this available in the next beta or yet a workaround?
Greetings,

Thank you for your reply.
But "after some time" must be a parameter in a configuration file. Has somebody an idea where I can find this configuration file?
Thanxs,

No toby, not the power management of the HD. At least the management of the controller inside the usb2ide(sata) -case.
At the moment I use a 4 year old usb2ide controller and there is no "build in HD standby".
Maybe one of the Logitech guys is able to post hdparm as working executable for the squeezebox, because there are no make tools on the box.

It could be either hdparm or sdparm. Can you confirm if one or the other or both work with your drive? The USB drive I have now is not spun down by either of these. It would be nice to get a confirmation before attempting to make one of them.
I have a development environment setup so I could compile one of them (I suppose I could do both!)

Thank you John
The HD worked on a DreamBox and a FritzBox with hdparm with no problem. So I suggest that it should also work on the SqueezeBox with hdparm (puhh, so much "boxes"...)

hdparm failed
Hello,
just compiled hdparm-6.3 for the SB Touch (running 7.6.0). Trying to set -S1 on my external USB HDD (/dev/sda) results in the following message:
/dev/sda:
setting standby to 1 (5 seconds)
HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(setidle1) failed: Invalid argument
Looks like the kernel is missing from commands!?
Anybody else having more luck?
Marcus
