I had thought that the podcast app on my SB would refer to the list of podcasts on the current server it is connected to, but my Boom appears to only refer to the list on mysqueezebox.com not the list on SB Server, despite being connected to my server...
Is that normal? Am I imagining it?

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't like using the connection to mysqueezebox.com, as I have a perfectly good local server which does everything I need, except for this...I thought it was an issue with my custom browse setup, as it doesn't show either the local output of 'Podcasts' on the server nor the feeds on 'Podcast Player' (the mysqueezebox App) when I create the menu item.
However, I can browse to and play the 'Podcasts' (on the server) via the web interface (via my custom menu called 'My Audio'), but I have not been able to get 'Podcasts' to show up anywhere on my Touch yet* (the other menu items under the custom menu show up on the Touch, and other random menu items I have added showup, just not the podcasts item). Nor can I browse to it using the standard menus, its just not there (not even in settings->Home Menu)!
So, I am guessing its an issue with the podcast plugin...? *shrug* Or my brain.
Until then I'm stuck with the 'link to the web' rubbish (all it seems to do is complicate things), so would love to hear of any solutions anyone might have.
Cheers
Jim
*Podcast Player via 'My Apps' works, as a top level menu item, but I don't *want* that.

Ditto! How do podcasts located defined by MySqueezebox.com (MySB.com) differ from those defined by the Squeezebox Server (SBS) Podcasts Plug-in?
I think I'm having the same behavior as rh2600:
1. Boom display shows ONLY podcasts defined by MySB.com
2. Boom will play podcasts defined by SBS if accessed through web interface
3. Default podcasts, ie. "PodcastAlley Top 50" Appears on webinterface both under MyApps>Podcasts and Extras>Podcasts.
A related question...am I correct in assuming those Podcasts shown on webinterface under MyApps>Podcasts come from MySB.com & those under Extras>Podcasts are defined under the Podcast Plug-in?
Thanks, to the responding guru!

I'm actually still trying to figure some of this out myself. Basically, what's the point of having a SBS plugin if you need to use MySB to access something (e.g., pandora)...or is it possible to access those services purely from SBS?

Ok, so I've done a bit of playing and this is what I can understand.
1. The Podcasts Plugin (managed under the Plugins tab in SBS Settings) is under Extras > Podcasts and is only available when connected to SBS.
2. The Podcasts Player App (is managed at www.mysqueezebox.com) is under My Apps > Podcast Player and is available when connected to and installed on either SBS and MSB.
BTW I think the instruction text for the Podcast Player App at MSB.COM is entirely wrong right? It doesn't have anything to do with favorites?Squeezebox Duet - Wifi
Squeezebox Boom - Wifi

rh2600,
Thanks for your input. The comment about Podcasts showing in favorites at MySB.com seems a vestige of something long ago.
I agree on the differences between MySB.com podcasts and SBS podcasts. Advantage of using MySB.com would be doesn't require the SBS to be awake.
A SBS & Boom UI curiosity: Plugin Podcasts are visible on Web-interface under Home>Extras>Podcasts, yet Boom interface doesn't have Podcasts under "Extras". I had to add a top-level menu item for Podcasts for the Boom to access them. Not a big problem, I just manage Podcasts under MySB.com

No, on my SB Radio and on my SB Touch, SBS's podcasts DO NOT appear under Extras or anywhere else, even when connected to SBS. They are only available on the web interface of SBS. That makes them completely useless.
Any ideas how I could display SBS's podcasts on my box?
Thanks
Patrick

AFAIK they can't. You'll need to use mysb.com to set up your podcasts.
