    My Album Art went poof!

After using the Touch for a few days and having no problems, all of a sudden the album art went missing. I didn't see any album art when looking at Albums listing, or when playing individual tracks, or even when playing Pandora. This was happening whether I was connected to the SB server or the tinySB.

I looked at many settings on the server side, plug-ins, as well as directly on the Touch and still couldn't get album art to display. Finally, I just gave up and hit the Factory Reset button on the Touch and it all came back. So my question is: Is there a setting that turns on/off album art display or did I encounter a bug?

    Question Sudden artwork disappearance

I'm having the same problem. Up until last week the album art worked flawlessly. I have a folder.jpg in every folder and it worked just fine. I'm using the Touch currently with an USB flash drive.
I then bough a new CD and copied the ripped mp3s onto the Touch, this was when I first noticed missing artwork because the new album didn't show any (though folder.jpgs were present). After moving a couple of more albums from and to the flash disk and thus rescanning the stick a couple of times now all the artwork is missing! Even those albums that worked flawlessly before. Can anyone help me here?
Usually if no covers are present it shows a kind of CD icon, doesn't it. In my case it only shows blank space, though. Both in the albums list as well as in the now playing screen.

I using the TinySB server with an 8GB USB drive. Firmware version is 7.5.3 r9283. It updated recently, might this be the source of my troubles? All files are either ripped or downloaded from amazon, no iTunes involved.

For me it is the same behavior that dbinder101 described!
    Any hints are highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

I am in the exact same situation as mentioned above. My Touch did a firmware upgrade yesterday to r9283 and all my album art disappeared since then. It only shows blank space too, instead of album art or the default image (when album art is missing).

I noticed that the scan did not find the right number of covers (414 instead of 849) and the ArtworkCache.db cache file is only 30Kb instead of 9678Kb before...

It looks like a bug has been introduced in the scanning of covers in this new firmware release :-(

I will try downgrading to the previous firmware tonight and see if it's back to working normally...

To make things even more mysterious it shows the cover of exactly one album. As far as I can see there is nothing special about this cover. It is neither the largest nor the smallest nor the first in the alphabet or something...
The only thing is, that it's by the same band as the album that first showed problems.

BTW, how do I downgrade? I couldn't find anything about it neither in the forum nor the wiki.

Smile No more album art showing after firmware upgrade to r9283

I have downgraded the Touch's firmware to r9218 yesterday night. I did a full rescan of my USB disk again and everything is back to normal. All 849 covers are showing perfectly both in album list and while playing.

So I definitely think there's a bug in the r9283 scanning functionality!

MDDLMN : To downgrade firmware on the Touch, you must point the remote to it and hold remote's volume-up key while you shortly press the reset button on the back of the Touch. Keep the key on the remote pressed until the "Free your music" appears on the screen. Don't press the reset button too long, or you will go back to factory defaults and lose all your personal settings.

This is odd. I updated to r9283 and all my art is still showing. (But I'm not running a USB disk).

If there is a bug in r9283, this seems to suggest it has to do with the USB disk functionality.

Well, If you're not running a USB disk, that means you don't use the Touch's internal Squeezebox Server (TinySC) and so you don't need to use its scanning functionality, which seems to be the one having a bug.

    Right; that's what I suggested.

    Question

MDDLMN : did you try downgrading to the previous firmware? and if yes did it solve your problem as well?
