  1. #1

    Thumbs down 7.5 Sucks

Who tested this piece of crap?

My entire pc is screwed up thanks to you guys.

It gets to Creating Directories and goes to NOT RESPONDING.

    I can't uninstall or re-install 7.4.

    My network places doesn't respond.

I have posted in a two years.

I'm running Win XP with the latest service pack.

    I'm PISSED!

    Rant over.

    Angry

    One more thing,

How do I turn off that stupid notice I get in my task bar that continually tells me there's an update available?

I'd prefer to download and install my updates since if it's working I don't want a new version.

    I'm still pissed.

    Rant over part 2.

Just leave it running, even if it takes 10 minutes. It will get there.

    Wonderful! LOL!

    Actually, thank you.

    BUT I'm still pissed.

PS - When did I have to take a math test to post?

WOW you must get pissed very easily. Guess ALL the software you ever loaded until now never caused a problem, always installed perfectly, never interfered with anything else and took less then a second to load. Guess you never installed Windows 3.11/MS Office from a set of 3.5 inch floppies!

As to the math test, it is probably because of the security change that was made to the forum while you have been away. The Forum just wanted to make sure you were still smart enough to post (just kidding), it was making sure you were not an automated posting.

    Cool

A more accurate assessment of the situation would be that 7.5 rocks but your attempts to install it suck...

By the way, there's a setting in the WEB UI to turn off the auto-notification of updates.
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
    Touch(wired/W7)+Teddy Pardo PSU - Audiolense 3.3/2.0+INGUZ DRC - MF M1 DAC - Linn 5103 - full Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Pekin Tuner, Townsend Supertweeters,VdH Toslink,Kimber 8TC Speaker & Chord Signature Plus Interconnect cables

Kitchen Boom, Outdoors: SB Radio, Harmony One remote for everything.

    Geez, an iPhone Fanboy.

Look. I bought my Squeezebox in 2004 or 2005. I'm an early adapter. I've had a few problems like everyone. This problem is beyond the pale. Self updating software should work flawlessly, don'tcha think?

At any rate when I see "Not Responding" how am I to know I should wait 10 minutes? Please.

And how am I to know that when I click on My Network Places I get an hourglass that ran ALL friggin' night w/o a response?

BTW, what the hell does installing software from floppies have to do with anything?

    Rant over, part 3.

    Have a lovely day.

That could be the case, Phil.

I've never seen anything like this before with the self-updating feature. Why should I expect this to be different?

Also, is the 10 minute wait an option or a feature?

Thanks for the WEB UI info.

I've never seen this 10-minute wait (XP Sp3)
But then I've been running 7.5 for so long now I can barely remember if I had any issues installing it originally - I don't think so.

One thing to try is to shut down SBS manually (I presume you are running it as a Windows Service?) before doing the install.

Phil, I did try that. No dice. I tried the usual tricks to get this installed and running.

I did get a Port 9090 (CLI) = Failed in diagnostics.

Actually, I probably did wait more than 10 minutes last night when installing. I can recall if I did. I'm fairly patient with installs but the My Network Places put me over the top, Also when I tried to uninstall 7.5 I got an error message something like "unins000.dat missing. Cannot uninstall". I wasn't a very happy camper (obviously )

At any rate I'm back on 7.4 rescanning 150,000 FLAC files.

My Network Places still doesn't paint.

I should be in business in about 8 hours.

    Whoopy.
