Hi. Got the same problem on the public release of 7.5.0 r30464. WinXP Pro SP3.
Files were encoded to Apple Lossless using dBpoweramp 13.x
Error screenshot and zipped contents of temp dir mentioned in screenshot attached.
It's a show-stopper, freezes the Squeezeboxes, they become totally unresponsive.
Can run faad.exe from cmd prompt ok. Worth trying upgrade to 7.5.1 per this post http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...ight=7.5+apple ? Nothing in release notes for 7.5.1 mentions any fixes, that I can see.
I've set Kaspersky to completely ignore SBS, and all apps and dirs.
Yet to try: does it crash with iTunes encoded Apple Lossless files?

Please file a bug at http://bugs.slimdevices.com and attach a sample file that crashes faad.

I am having the same problem. I entered a bug, and uploaded a file that demonstrates it. The bug report is showing that the attached file was deleted. I am not sure if that's routine, for large attachments, or if I need to re-upload it.
By the way, I get the same problem on both 7.5.0 and 7.5.1.

So frustrating...Same problem here running April 8 nightly (7.51) on XP
Going back to 7.4x to try
It is becoming more apparent to me that ALAC is not something that is supported enthusiastically. That's too bad cause many, many people still prefer to use that + iTunes to manage their libraries.
IMHO, since SB Server is not exactly a "music management system", it needs an external program such as iTunes which is by far the most elegant and suitable for the general public. Yes there are others BUT Logitech needs to figure out whether they want to target music lovers or technical people who can cobble and configure things continuously on the computer...

I have the same issue as Jose reports. Same configuration, XP, Transporter, Apple Lossless files, iTunes. Currently using version 7.5.1, also experienced the problem with 7.5.0. I've (hopefully) attached the error report from Windows.

I'll add my file/logs to one of them later. Crashes on Boom and SB3 for me, as they're the only two devices I own :-)Win7 > iTunes 10.5 > SBS 7.5.4 > iPeng > Squeezebox 3 / Boom / iPhone > ears

Still getting faad crash with latest nightly SqueezeboxServer-7.5.1-30503
I tried SBS 7.43x for a while and it seemed to run for quite a while without a faad error but I did not leave it on as I am trying some changes that Phil is working on for me which requires 7.5x
FWIW I am using AVG Internet Security 2010, WIn XP SP3, Apple iTunes 9.03.15
Also got strange behavious with 7.5x in that I am unable to enter the various submenus of server settings - get an error box as shown in attachment

I consolidated the different bug reports into bug 16025. Please add any useful info you may have to that report.

I have gone back to 7.4.2 for now, which still plays apple lossless files fine. I notice that with 7.4.2 faad.exe is not used. It uses alac.exe to play the file. Is this the first release that used faad.exe to play apple lossless files? I am thinking that this change was made as an attempt to add the ability to FF/RW lossless files (which would be much appreciated!! if it worked reliably). Clearly it could have used some more testing though.
