But are the password messages *encrypted*? Passwords sent in clear text over the 'Net are not exactly a security best practice, analogous to you typing your password into your computer while someone looks over your shoulder---and the computer echoes exactly what you type rather than masking characters. Chances are vicious hackers aren't out there capturing passwords for little ddns domains, but why take the chance? Not so easy to replace a good (ie, secure) vendor transfer service, is it?

Raven,
After doing some more digging I finally found the Tonidoplug warranty (one year) and terms of sale here:
https://store.tonido.com/index.php?m...s#plugwarranty.
It also appears they fixed the glitch with their SSL certificate.
At $99 this product is beginning to look like like a good deal even though they are apparently out of stock and won't be available for a month or so (end of April according to the order page.)
So thanks for the tip, and I may be back here to ask your advice if and when I order and take delivery on a Tonidoplug of my own.

Good to hear, it is really a nice product.
There is a big demand for the Tonidoplugs and they have a backlog basically all the time. So you should order now and not wait till end of April, because by then you have to wait probably till end of May.Setup: 1 Touch, 4 Booms and 1 Radio.

Hi Raven,
Well, my Tonidoplug has arrived! Perhaps you can help me with a few answers.
What's the latest and greatest way to install SBS on the TonidoPlug? Is there a set of instructions for this available somewhere?
Can you suggest what capacity USB flash drive I should get for the T-plug? Would 16GB be overkill? I remember reading somewhere that 4 - 8GB was recommended for Sheeva Plug. My music library currently contains more than 11,000 tracks, over 900 albums.
Thanks.

I should add that the music files are stored on a DNS-323 NAS on the same Ethernet LAN as the T-Plug.

Hi All,
I am in a similar predicament as the OP. I am in the US and have my mp3 collection (a large one) on my Drobo FS. I want to use truehl's SqueezePlug solution for serving my Squeezeboxes.
So, the Tonido Plug sounds less than ideal, and I don't like the idea of a ONE MONTH warranty from Globalscale.
So there is no vendor that offers a similar hardware solution (and with a quality warranty) as NewIT in the US?

The Tonidoplug will work very good as a SBS server. It is just slightly less conveniant to install since the Squeezeplug image made by Thomas will not work yet.
But booting the Tonidoplug from a usb hub is easy and well documented on the tonido forum and wiki. Thereafter the install of SBS is less than a minute work.Setup: 1 Touch, 4 Booms and 1 Radio.
