Squeezebox working on pogoplug - Howto

I have squeezebox running well on a pogoplug

    1. install plugapps - follow guide on http://plugapps.com/index.php5?title...rted:_Pogoplug

I installed to nand, but it should work either way

    2. follow the howto I wrote at http://plugapps.com/index.php5?title...eezebox_server

I've also been playing with PlugApps (formerly OpenPogo) on a PogoPlug. It seems to work OK, but the scanner sometimes crashes. Not sure exactly how to reproduce it yet.

It would be great if you could add some info to the Squeezebox wiki. If you do, I suggest adding a few steps such as tweaking file permissions so your new user can run it and read/write your music directories. Also, changing the timezone.

BTW, just curious, why do you use the NFS client? If you have an NFS server running on the machine containing your music, why not just run SbS there? IMO, the real benefit of a plug is using local USB (and later eSATA) storage.

    Hi

I updated my howto on plugapps and added a delay time on reboot before the scan starts, plus some other minor changes.

The delay is important, to give jffs2_gcd_mtd3 time to clean up your flash after reboot. Otherwise it takes forever.

The NFS server I'm connecting to is a Popcornhour which is my networked Video player (also a very low power device), however SbS will not run on it (at least not yet).

    Some bad news: http://plugapps.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51

The Plugbox Linux team has decided to abandon Plugbox on the Pogoplug and will revert to Openpogo. I'm not sure what all differences this implies, but the last time I checked, Openpogo had a non-threaded perl. I wouldn't go buy a new Pogoplug for SbS until this shakes out.
