    Album art is patchy

I find that most album art looks kind of patchy on my receiver display. I don't think this is a function of the quality of the original image. In many cases I have acquired the album art from some online source, especially when it is not included as part of a download, etc, or not obtained through the online services when ripping. In those cases, I obtain the image, often very large, and resize before either saving as a folder.jpg or embedding in the individual files with something like mp3tag.

The image may be perfect when I create and save it, but by the time it is being displayed on the receiver screen it is patchy. Now this may be a function of limited color display on the receiver, but sometimes the image is quite good. The problem mighty be an artifact of the actual color depth of the screen, but maybe there is something I can do. Like choose an optimal size for the saved/embedded image.

I've been using 200x200 pixels as a default. I haven't noticed that larger images work better, but maybe there is a best-case size.

    Ideas?

See bug 7462. A lot of old bugs tend to get dropped by the wayside as new products are pushed out.

This also applies to Radio, they don't feedback experience gathered in preceding projects ? So all old mistakes is to be done again.

However on the radio this phenomenon is a lot more benign, it is like the display works better when used in the other orientation ? or something .

Unfortunately this a common problem in all larger organisations; the collective memory is doubtfull, lessons learned are forgotten and the mistakes are repeated only two years after.

Combine this with the constant urgent pressure to deliver "something" and you get lower quality, cuttings corners, repeated faults, ....

I have been working for a larger swedish telco equipment manufactorer for the last 15 years and the challenges mentioned above have been so evident in the last 6-8 years... A clear link to the ue of developers in e.g. India.
As I primarily work in the maintenance part of development we constantly stand with customer problems caused by rash or uneducated decisions in projects or management.

Sometimes the fix is something that can be handled quietly, but at times the problems are so fundamental that we have to get time allocated to focus for a periode... and then I find myself running to managers to sell my case.
Yes in periods I think of myself as a professional nag'er

I find it very odd when an organisation can't see/learn how annoying and expensive it is for customers and the very organisation when implementation and testing is not up to standard.

So you never see me complain much in here; I just state the errors and try to document them were I can. By following the forum I can easily spot some of the dedicated developers working for this product. Guys like Andy G, Michael Herger and Erland comes to mind... cudos to them and all the others that works hard to secure us all a squeeze experience.

    Interesting!

Very interesting to see the history of this bug report. Unfortunate that it hasn't been fixed yet. The display is an important part of the user experience.

    FWIW, I've added my vote.

Have you voted on it yet, it would be good to keep the issue alive, stir up the old bugs now and then so they don't forget it .

I suspect there is some fundamental flaw in the driver hardware combo that's unfixable in software but nobody dares to admit it
Because then all sbc's and radios would be broken.
And they reused much technology from the controller to go into the Radio, that makes sense, but you inherit the problems too.

    Please vote

As I noted, I've voted on this.

Please, if you would like the display to show your album art in the proper way, vote on this bug!
