Exclamation Volume control bug on BOOM with the mini remote

    https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=15918

can some one confirm this behaviur.
Very similar to the radio issue you have to push the button in steps of 1 all the time, no continuis sliding of volume when holding a volume button.

I'm running latest 7.5 on my server

This only happens with the new Radio remote, not with the original Boom remote. Although they look the same, they aren't identical inside...
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

No this happen with the original boom remote to and I have both off them. radio and and boom remote, tried with both.

And actually they are identical on the sticker, so there is no difference between the remotes.

If I peel of the cover completely on my remotes:

On my old Boom remote circuit board I have "BOOM PA31 2008-06-18"
On my new Radio remote circuit board I have "BOOM PA2 2008-03-24"

So there are different revisions of circuit boards

    But the stickers says

    M/N: X-IA3
    PID: WD839XM
    P/N: 815 000039

On both remotes so same part number at logitech, so if they are different they have a hard time telling them apart too

With the remote of my boom (March-2010) and software 7.4.2 i can control Boom and Radio continuously by holding down one of the volume buttons.

Works for me. I didn't take my remote apart, but the sticker says PID: WD832XM.

Some background info about the mini IR remote

    Hi there

All our IR remotes (except for the mini remote) use a protocol called 'continuous transmission mode' when a button is pressed and held. What that means is that the same complete button code is repeated over and over again.

On the other hand the mini remote uses a protocol called 'one shot' which only sends the complete button code once and then a much shorter code which tells the receiver circuit to repeat the last complete command received.

    Some more info here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph..._hold_a_key.3F

The mini remote has been fixed to also use continuous transmission mode and the plan was to only include fixed mini remotes in the SB Radio battery pack. Unfortunately that plan did not get communicated properly to the people packing the parts into boxes and so they used whatever mini remote they had available. So, I guess, it is save to say that the battery accessory packs already delivered to customers still contain the one shot type mini remote. And to add to all this confusion I also heard that both types of mini remote will have the exact same part number. (Why, I have no idea.)

But there is a way to test whether the remote uses continuous transmission mode or is of the one shot type:

If you press and hold volume up on a continuous transmission type remote pointing at a SB Classic then point it somewhere else to interrupt reception then (still holding the button) point back at a SB, volume goes up again.

When you try the same with a one shot remote it won't work when you point it back at the player as the receiver doesn't know anymore what the last comment was (there is a timeout) and only receives the generic code to repeat.

Hope this helps to understand what is going on.

    I apologize for any inconvenience.

    Felix

P.S. It seems the mini IR remote issue on SB Boom can be 'fixed' by rebooting SB Boom.

Would you mind reporting it in the bug too, if they see that it happens for different people on different servers version and hardware.
This could go a long way to "confirmed" status.
