    Update...

    I have discovered something interesting...

In the BBC iplayer list, some DO work and some don't.

    These work:
    BBC Radio1
    BBC Radio4
    BBC Radio5 Live
    BBC World Service
    BBC Radio Scotland
    BBC Radio nan Gaidheal
    BBC Radio Ulster
    BBC Radio Foyle
    BBC Radio Wales
    BBC Radio Cymru

    These don't:
    BBC Radio2
    BBC Radio3
    BBC Radio5 Sports
    BBC Radio6 Music
    BBC Radio7
    BBC Asian Network

I guess I should have tried all of them but as I couldn't get Radio 2 and 3 to work I assumed it all didn't work. Radio 2 and 3 broadcast all the time and even though I can't get these to work through Squeezecentre I *can* get them to work through iPlayer using the PC and a browser. (Of course these don't then play through my Squeezebox Player).

This can only mean (I guess) that the url for these programmes is not correct - or the Squeezecentre plugin is seeing something that the PC-installed iPlayer doesn't - which stops it from working.

Hopefully this will be a clue to what is actually happening?

    Cheers.

The first URL you posted (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/radio1 ) is not a playable URL but a web page which has info to start a Flash Audio stream using a Flash player. This sort of URL will never play except on a PC with a web browser with Flash.

URLs than can be played directly have the ASX ending. These do not use iPlayer - if they don't play then either you have a AV s/w interfering with them or you have a network problem.

I can't read the logfile - my browser says it doesn't exist when I go to the web page.

Please only post those lines in the log file from the start time of the test to the end of the test and then zip the file and then attach it to a post. I have never encountered the size limit with a zipped text file. At a guess you are posting a complete log file which has never been cleared and has old log messages.

Check by turning on logging WebUI Settings/Advanced/Loggin/Plugins.bbciplayer.parser - set to DEBUG. Click Apply and then try fetching menus until it fails. Then copy entries of log file from time you started testing into a text file, zip and attach.
When I tried this (above) the server did not write to the log file - even though I got errors on the squeezebox. Any suggestions?

Assuming the log setting was enabled correctly and you are looking at the ight server.log - then it means data is not being received by BBC IPlayer plugin - it is being blocked elsewhere or message are timing out due to slow network response or short timeout value.

Try enabling the following and repeat the test. You should also check scanner.log for messages.

    formats.xml DEBUG
    formats.playlist DEBUG
    scan.scanner DEBUG

    Clean start

    Hi,

    I appreciate your time here...

I decided to uninstall the Squeezebox Server software (7.4.2) completely and start again so that I would have a clean log file with only pertinent data in it. (Easier for everyone and much smaller!).

So, here's the sequence of events:

    Install 7.4.2
When installed and Squeezebox Server running, open Web Interface and then install BBC iPlayer. Stop and Restart server.

First, go to "My Apps/BBC" to see if regular URL will run. Choose BBC Radio 1 which uses URL: http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1.aspx(this URL is installed by default).
Error message comes up: "Error - No items found in playlist"

I then checked this link using a web browser. It doesn't work either so from that I can deduce that the default URL installed into the software actually isn't correct. That, I can live with - after all I can change it. This makes sense.

    Now for IPlayer:

Go to iPlayer, Listen Live. Choose BBC Radio 1 and click PLAY.

Right hand pane of the web interface shows:

    BBC Radio 1
    0,asx

No output from Squeezebox3 or counter running in web window.

Choose BBC Radio 2 and click PLAY.

Right hand pane of the web interface shows:

    BBC Radio 2
    0,asx

This time counter is actually counting up - but there is still no output form the Squeezebox3.

Choose BBC Radio 5 Live and click PLAY.

Right hand pane of the web interface shows:

    BBC Radio 5
    0,asx

    Error comes up:

"Error - No items found in playlist"

Choose BBC World Service Live and click PLAY.

Works fine !!! Counter counts up and there is output from the Squeezebox3!

I then checked CPU useage and this is rammed at 100% and the computer is running S.L.O.W...... If you then stop the Squeezebox Server, CPU useage drops to 15% and is normal.

I guess there seems to be something wrong with the way the streams are being accessed as the World Service works fine. This would indicate that the iPlayer plugin is working - it just won't work with some items.

I did all of the above in the order stated so the included log file here should reflect that. Hopefully this shouold throw some light on what is going on.

    Thanks for your time guys.

    Software...

    Hi,

Yes - I am using Kaspersky. Been using it for a long time now and so far I've not experienced any issues.

I sense you may have some clue... why did you ask that? )

I think Kaspersky is the cause of your problem see this thread especially post 14

    http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...iplayer&page=1

This is a Windows specific solution.

Thanks for the help. I have set the debug settings as you suggested.
Then - on squeezebox selected menus:
internet radio >> bbc iplayer >> bbc 6 music
and then I get the error message:
    'no items found in player'
and a scrolling url address: www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/6musix.xml
which I checked and I cannot access this site with a browser. Is this the cause of the problem?

I attach the server.log file after this error occurred.

    Again, thanks for the suggestions!

You seem to have a lot of problems
    Code:
10-03-26 18:32:31.3590] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::Players::_players_error (241) Unable to get players from SN: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com, retrying in 300 seconds

[10-03-27 14:07:17.8546] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::_error (447) Unable to login to SN: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com

Fix your internet access - then BBCiPlayer may work.

You should also remove AlienBBC - it is not support and BBC stops using RealAudio in a few days time.
