I just installed the Versjon: 7.4.2. Suddenly I am only getting "Empty" when I search for artist name in the music library.
If I search for album etc. it works fine...
Happy for any advice!

Unable to search for artist in new version?

Is it just in the search that artists are missing, or is it that artist info is missing entirely from your library?
What anti-virus and/or security software are you running? This can be a common cause of "no artists found in library". You may need to add a specific exception for *.myi and *.myd files in your security software and do a full rescan. Are there any error messages in the server.log file or scanner.log files?
A bit more info on your setup would be good - in particular what OS are you running 7.4.2 on and what hardware (PC, NAS ?). What format are the files and how are they tagged (e.g. ID3v2.3 or 2.4 if mp3 etc).Who am I on LAST.FM?

So if it works in the web interface, where is it not working?
On the Controller or on a player (and if so, which one, Boom, SB3)? If the Controller, have you tried a factory reset?Who am I on LAST.FM?

I have the same problem. After a rescan the Squeebox Server Control panel shows all my tracks, albums and generes correctly, but the number of artists is listed as 0.
Using the web interface it shows x albums with x songs by 0 artists.
I am running 7.4.2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit machine linking the S/S to iTunes. The files are mp3.
I shall now try your suggestion regarding the .myi and .myd files to see if that sorts the problem.
Update:
Tried the rescan after excluding .myi and .myd files. During the rescan the artists names appeared under the artists list but as soon as the scan finished they had all disappeared and the count was back at 0. Most peculiar and way beyond me to figure out!Last edited by Adrian07; 2010-03-11 at 04:00. Reason: Update

The normal fix for the zero artists problem is:
1) address any anti-virus issues - look for error messages about "MYI" in the server.log file
2) clear the SBS cache/database via the SBS control panel applet
3) Do a FULL rescanYou want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
