I have the external ip. And that is the one my friend connects to. And i have opened the ports on my router to my friends external ip.

Should it not work or is the ports wrong?

    ?

I port forward the squeezeboxserver ports to my own server .
make then UDP and TCP 9000,(9090),(9092),3483 .
But not for the moment I'll do this when i travel sometimes

Example my servers internal network address is 192.168.1.5

So in my router I port forward all these ports to 192.168.1.5

Then i find out my external ip 46.59.8.53

Then it will be like this for example my web-UI is normally

    http://192.168.1.5:9000/

    But now also

    http://46.59.8.53:9000/ from the outside

You can test this if you set your router to allow loopback then you can try both web browser and player at home .

I wish I knew enough about hamachi or ssh tunneling to set up a secure conection ?

That works, so when I type "external IP:9002" (in a browser) then the music server gui opens and my friend can play music on my server but on my reciever. So the music plays in my kitchen... In short there should be open from my friends IP directly to the squeeze box server.

But when we manually tells the reciever to connect to a different libary (external) we write my external ip on the controller. But we get a error message saing the reciever/controller cannot locate the libary. We cannot write a specific port though only the ip.

Your friend needs a "software" player to play the music on their computer. These include squeezeplay and softsqueeze.

When they are running a "software" player, their computer will show in the webUI in the "player" pull-down and when they select that as their "active" player, they will receive the tunes on their PC speakers. You could have speed issues but they can also be fixed.

If you are trying to connect a Receiver from the remote locations, you will need three ports forwarded in your router:

    9000 tcp
    3483 tcp AND
    3483 udp

You don't need to put the port with the address of your home and you may get slow red blinking on the remote receiver. This means you will need to use a controller to finish the setup. If you don't have a receiver at the remote location search the forum for NET::UDAP.
