I think you need to fix the space bar on your keyboard....

The SBR handles both FLAC and MP3 natively. So the default is for the server to send FLAC files as FLAC, and MP3 as MP3, and the SBR decodes it at the player.

    Dear Mr. Asterisk,
The PC can send FLAC, MP3 and many other formats to the SBR. The SBR can handle FLAC, MP3 and WAV playback from the PC stream all by itself. Some other formats need to be converted on the server first and sent as a format that the SBR can play.
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

Red face Basic understanding of streaming

Thanks for answer mr space and you other guys. Ah fun to understand the basic.
If I feel quality difference between the SBR and to play with the computer directly, it is because the difference between ad converter in your sound card and ad converter is in the SBR, right?

Yes, you most certainly will hear and feel the sound quality difference between a SqueezeBox output and a standard PC output. The DAC will play a big role in the improved sound quality, but so will the surrounding circuitry. There's a lot less background noise from the SB. And it has to do with things like the PC sound circuit having to work close to spinning/seeking hard drives, fans, AC power supplies, which really isn't an ideal environment to begin with.

I'm talking from my own experience here, and about standard (basic) PC sound devices. Premium high quality PC sound devices are a different matter, of course.
