powerbook + Linux iTunes server setup

Recently I bought an Apple powerbook and I am wondering what is the best
    setup
to use it with a Slimp3 and a Linux server (a PC from hush Technologies)
.. I would like to keep all the music files
on the Linux server and use iTunes to manage the music collection.
As far as I have seen there are several possibilities:

    1) Use an NFS share from the Linux box to iTunes
    2) Use a Samba share on the Linux box.
    3) Use a daapd server on the Linux box.

According to a comment I have found, since daapd has been designed for
    streaming music from the
beginning, it would be more appropriate than NFS or Samba.

    Any other comments/suggetions?

    Thanks much

powerbook + Linux iTunes server setup

Hey there, I've a similar situation and here's how I've managed it:

    1. Slimserver on my Linux Box (CentOS 3)
    2. /data/My Music/iTunes is shared (SMB)
    3. My PC is set to hook to that share and use it for every user's
    Music folder. (W2K3 Server)
    4. I use iTunes on the PC to import/manage the music collection. Works
    like a charm.

Next I will point my Powerbook's iTunes to use the same share for it's
Library via a 3rd party tool, or just continue to use Softsqueeze since
I'm already using that to get my music remotely...
