Server won't start after upgrade from 7.4.1 to 7.4.2 on Windows 7 64

Hopefully someone can help... my first post, so I apologize for starting with a cry for help...

Today I upgraded my working install from 7.4.1 to 7.4.2 on a recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (from Vista)... it was working great with 7.4.1 but I just tough I'd keep up with developers... my mistake!

After upgrading the server would not start... it would start then quickly stop. The Squeezebox Server Control Panel is telling me that for the Squeezebox Server:

Squeebox Server: Stopped
Server IP Address: 192.168.0.24
Port 3483 (slimproto): Failed
Port 9000 (HTTP): Failed
Port 9090 (ClI): Failed

I then uninstalled, tried to go back to 7.4.1, but it did the same thing... I also tried 7.5... same thing there. I even tried 7.4.0 and same message.... Below I have the error log (pretty simillar in all 7.4.0 and up version).

I uninstalled and went back to 7.3.4 and it worked again... Such a mystery.

I have Windows firewall off and Trendmicro which I also turned off while installing and launching...

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem...the wording in my log file is identical. It's nearly a month since my Duet worked. My SB3 has worked intermittently, but for the last 2 days has been utterly frozen. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Or do we have to wait for SB Server 7.5?

Gerry, you could uninstall and setup 7.3.4 like i did. It works although my desktop squeeze player does not work since newer than the server... Then the duet asked for an update which actually was a downgrade...

I called support and then insisted I look int the Windows 7 firewall etc... I did, but I don't think it is related (always have windows firewall off and tried with Trendmicro off both during installation and operation). After all the server is not even starting...

Hopefully someone can help us...

I am running Vista and had a similar problem. Seems to have all failed connections. Not sure where to go from here...

So far I had no luck myself. Looks like all version beyond and including 7.4 won't work right for me under Windows 7 64. The worse is that it was working before I upgraded from 7.4.1 to 7.4.2.

Somehow when I upgraded the PC from Vista (64 ultimate) to Windows 7 (64 ultimate), the server was fine on version 7.4.1. But upgrading it within Windows 7 and or re-installing even to anything beyond 7.4 (included) will return the same error I posted at the beginning of this thread.

Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone at Logitech could help? Thanks.

Yet from the same Controller I can connect to the Internet - my Facebook account, Last FM, etc, etc. So, I can do that but not connect to the music on my own PC? Come on Logitech, you're still not admitting there's something radically wrong with the Squeezebox Server software? These problems seemed to coincide with 7.4.2 and the arrival of Windows 7 (which I installed within a few days of its launch and a not long before the problems began). How many others are experiencing the same issues?

same issue with my controller since i upgraded to 741. it hasnt worked for months. ive just been using ipeng as controller.

I delved back into this yesterday and found a possible solution...

After trying to uninstall/re-install a few times, I noticed some files were not deleted from the system after uninstalling... there are files under C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox that stayed there... I tried to delete them but windows said I did not have the right permission although my user is an admin. It seems these were left over from the Windows Vista to Windows 7 upgrade I did a couple month back. I had to take ownership of the folder and all files within (took me couple time to do it so I can't really describe in detail that part, a quick Google search on that subject should help though)and then I was able to delete the files. Once deleted I re-installed 7.5 (I assume it would work with 7.4.2, but I had the file from a previous download/install trial) and it worked, the server finally started for good!

I hope my experience will help you guys.
