Unfortunatley not relevant in my case. While I was having the issues, I was away from home and SBS was not running at all. The sympoms I was seeing 25/12 were that the Radio would take several minutes to connect to mysb.com following power up, and then key presses would take up to ~60 seconds to respond. Once starting a stream, the Radio would play without any problems however. On 26/12 the Radio would not connect to mysb.com at all for most of the day, which looked like a rerun of the problems of a few weekends ago. Eventually I installed a temporary copy of SBS on a relative's laptop and used that as a workaround. The problems seem to clear mid-afternoon 26/12.

Well... here in Sweden MySB performance is severely degraded to and from... My Duet Remote shows (Advanced Settings > Diagnostics) everything to be fine, correct IP num, ping etc, but it takes ages to do anything, if at all possible. Like right now, the Home screen only lists three options, "Now Playing", "Choose Player" and "Settings"; neither of the top two achieve anything. Artwork and Now Playing info is unstable at best...

And it's been this way since the Black Weekend, if not before; now it works, now it don't. Maybe the Duets, with the known issues with remote, are more sensitive than other systems, but surely also the Duets are supposed to work with MySB, right...?

I bought my SBR half december and having no problems connecting to MSB.com upto yesterday. It took about 2 hours before the SBR could connect, after ofcourse I checked my home network and internet connection.

This morning arround 7 no problems and now it took about 10 minutes to connect.

I'm living in Holland, so also here some problems.

Yes the Duet should work fine.

The problem as has been stated around here elsewhere is that sales spiked faster than expected and they're trying to play catch up on servers.

It probably affects Duet and Radio more than SB3's because the Duet controller and radio have a different method of talking to the server than the SB3. Ie, the SB3 will talk to MySBS via slimproto... the newer and smarter devices will talk to MySBS via HTTP/JSON. So it's quite conceivable that there are some sort of limits (no of connection attempts per second, for example) that will affect SB3 and Radio/SBC clients differently.

The connection rate is difficult to change: allowing more and more connections (increasing the depth of the queue actually as I recall) removes some protection from DOS attacks. And to make matters more interesting, this sort of 'protection' can also happen at routers, which are not always under control of the server owner. (Ie, rent some rackspace at DataCentersRUs and they may very well just string a cable off a router port and you get to deal with whatever they want to filter to protect the rest of their network).

No clue where exactly the problem is, but it sounds a bit more complex than just adding RAM or other cheap tricks to increase capacity.

The price of success, unfortunately, is getting slapped in the face when capacity exceeds expectations.

This is the joy of IT in general: if you plan correctly you are invisible and unthanked. You may even be whined at: "you spent too much money on this!" If you try to do things more slowly and ramp up, people will complain about how you didn't plan for extreme cases... (You know, the ones they didn't want to pay for...)

Same problem but maybe a bit different.

I can connect to mysqueezebox.com if the squeezebox server is running. It works fine. But if I turn off the computer and the squeezebox server then it gives me the message "Couldn't resolve IP address for www.mysqueezebox.com. At least that is the jist of the message. It might say cannot find the server address. I'm running 7.4.1 on XP. It's a bit worrysome as my computer has been messing up and might die shortly. I really would like to be able to use my SB3 if my computer crashes. Any help would be nice.
    Thank you,
    NR

I am having a different problem

The SB Classic connects fine directly to mysqueezebox.com

But when I connect the SBC via the local server on my Windows XP and try to get into MyApps I get this error message:

"Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::_error (447) Unable to login to SN: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com"

I can access mysqueezebox.com fine via a browser from that PC

    I am running 7.4.2

I'm guessing the only way that Logitech will be able to fix this, is to install more hardware racks to cover the increased demand in Europe. The USA servers are behaving completely fine, but then there's two of them to handle the load.

    Temporary Fix:

Tell your European Squeezebox Radio/Duet to connect to the USA servers:

Cool Mysqueezebox.com OK Belgium since Dec 6

But the problem is still out there hitting random customers in EU.

What I have learned in troubleshooting this issue :

    a. if everything else fails : factory reset controller + receiver and wipe + re-install SBS.

    b. then start Duet only ( not SBS on PC ) try to connect to mySB.com

    c. if this fails : start up SBS , setup mySB account and try again.

    d. if this fails : install Squeezeplay on PC and try to connect that player to MySB.com

In my case B and D would fail to connect during a service outage, while SBS and direct web site access ( mysqueezebox.com ) would still work.
If only one method fails, at least you know what to investigate.

Hang in there - I hope Logitech will wake up to the calls real soon - some of them are getting louder and louder.

    Hi,

My Duet has had problems ever since I bought it almost 2 years ago. It has worked sometimes, but most of the times not. My SB3 always worked. After another attempt a few days ago it worked again... for a few hours. As of then it can't connect to mysqueezebox.com anymore ("dns failed", "ping failed" etc). Nothing helps (reset, firmware upgrade/downgrade etc). Logitech Support told me to hang in another few weeks referring to the issue of recent unexpected load increases.

Patience is starting to run out...

    /Mats

Yes, I know and I agree with you. My concern was that Andy G "Slim Devices Developer" claimed that there are no longer any problems...

The problems are still there on and off, but if the development team do not acknowledge that, the problems will never be solved.
