I seen that it would not show my play list any more.
So I went and did a clear and rescan everything.
I did it 2 times and it errors on the same song. Like this:
Directory Scan (7245 of 13284)
Music scan terminated unexpectedly (Directory Scan)
It's running on a Linux box. I am running:
Squeezebox Server StatusVersion: 7.4.2 - r29536 @ Sat Dec 5 04:03:39 PST 2009
Not sure if there is a update after this one.

Good so we can rule out the usual antivirus suspects.
There is a new version of 7.4.2 every day. Some days it's the same as the last. Only 'safe' changes should be checked into 7.4.2.Not sure if there is a update after this one.
The scanner log (/var/log/squeezeboxserver/scanner.log) should show every file as it is scanned... Check the last file or two for something odd. It's possible something has confused the scanner greatly.

In the error log.
Here is part of the log that looks like it's the error.
[09-12-21 08:59:54.2716] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1165) Warning: [08:59:54.2709] Use of uninitialized value $clientMode in hash element at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Buttons/Common.pm line 1377, <SRC> line 1740.
[09-12-21 10:50:27.4906] Slim::Web::Graphics:
rocessCoverArtRequest (262) Error: Unable to resize music/5415/cover_41x41_m: Can't resize unknown type, magic: "BM6T\1\0\0\0"[09-12-21 11:02:14.2095] Slim::Player::Squeezebox2::statHandler (122) Error: 00:04:20:26:4f:45: Decoder does not support file format, code 0
I deleted a lot that looked about like the same lines over and over.
The only thing I changed was I got a Squeezebox Radio.
I did a playlist can and it went passed with out errors. I never had this error before. I been running it on Linux for years.
O I know what I installed on it is like a bata one. Because the one they have out has a error were it will not install right on Ubuntu Linux. I guess they are working on it.

That looks odd: some album (#5415) has weird artwork in some strange format. How to find out what that album is? Easy if you cheat:
http://localhost:9000/browsedb.html?...&album.id=5415
Check the artwork for that album, something is wrong.
As have I.. it should work fine, unless something is funky somewhere that is now being picked up. The above lines are from server.log.. what is in scanner.log, since that's what is failing...I did a playlist can and it went passed with out errors. I never had this error before. I been running it on Linux for years.
As I understand it Ubuntu changed the mysql version at about the same time SBS came out with 7.4 which tended to break things.O I know what I installed on it is like a bata one. Because the one they have out has a error were it will not install right on Ubuntu Linux. I guess they are working on it.

I been doing a scan and when it stopps with a "scan terminated unexpectedly" it shows the song. I open that song with iTunes or MediaMonkey and re-tag them. If they don't have the Album Art I add it. Then do a scan again. Then squeezebox server errors on a diffint song. I do the same open that one in MeidaMonkey and tag it. Scan again. Every scan stopps on some other song. I did 6 all ready. I don't get why MediaMoney or iTunes don't error on the songs!

Looks like only some songs with out Album Art!
I guess Squeezebox server is looking at the song as the Album Art so it errors. To fix just add the Album Art to that song.
I been doing that what ever song it errors on. But there are a lot. They should just fix this.

you should file a bug, unless there is one already, and make sure to save an example of a file or whatnot that crashes the scanner to send them or attach to the bug. they will fix it if you reproduce the issue for them.
very strange bug. these are flacs right? any chance the art in them is in an id3 tag? checked with mp3tag?

After scanning more. I would scan with out editing the songs it errored on. The scan would stop and error on like a random song!
I am not sure what is wrong. Just can't scan now with out getting a error. So I can only play the little songs now before were it stopped on the "Scan terminated unexpectedly"

Have you looked at the scanner log?
On Debian, this is in /var/log/squeezeboxserver/scanner.log
This will show you where it stopped scanning....
You may also have a problem with 'songs with -invalid- album art'. Not missing, but random data instead of a jpg/gif/png.
Remember your prior error message (the one from -server.log-):
Error: Unable to resize music/5415/cover_41x41_m: Can't resize unknown type, magic: "BM6T\1\0\0\0"
That's not a missing image, that's corrupt data.

probably not related as i think this is windows only, but perhaps this kind of a thing?
https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4699
the odd thing is that your files work fine in other apps, so why not SBS? that is the mystery. get some example files to the devs.
