7.4.x artwork scan extremely slow :(

Scanning of Artwork takes a very long time with 7.4.0 or 7.4.1 nightly built. Now it is taking more than 10 secs to scan each artwork file, I only have JPEG of 500x500 pixels for each artwork. Instead of taking 10 mins to scan ~550 artworks, now it is taking over an hour.

The version I used before was SqueezeCenter 7.3.3.

    I'm running Synology DS209+ DiskStation.

If you are using a NAS or other slow server you can choose between re-sample and some simpler resizing ? to speed up things, the artwork will have lower quality but scan goes faster . I don't remember the exact term I'm not in front of sbs right now, poke around in the setttings and you will find it.

Or plan your scanning beforehand initiate it overnight or something.
But i think it also impacts how fast it populates the web-UI or controller .

On your upgrade you might have lost some settings from 7.3.3

If it is slower with the exact same settings then it might be an issue

Have you downloaded the version of 7.4.1 that was built yesterday? Version: 7.4.1 - r28913 @ Sun Oct 18 04:05:52 PDT 2009

This version, by default, skips one of the 3 possible artwork scans.

If you have not tried it, you should. It might solve your problems.

That scan can be turned on or off in settings -> iTunes

Your problem might be different, but this one worked for me.

In all previous versions since 7.1, I never have to change this artwork resample setting. It always defaults to re-sample at high quality and it works fine.

Something must have changed in 7.4.x to cause the artwork re-sample process to become very slow.

I'm using the nightly built from last night, some problem. Instead of 3 mins for artwork rescan, it now takes over an hour for approx 500 artwork.

I've just changed the setting to re-sample faster and it seems to take care of this issue for now.

PS - My NAS is the Synology DS209+, with a pretty speedy PPC processor...
