I have been downloading a nightly build (in hope of fixing my disappearing playlist entries). I was wondering if the new nightly builds affect how my devices (SB Boom, SB Radio) will function using My squeezebox.com only....ie, without the SBS being on. Thank you.

Does a nightly build affect the funtionality of a device?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the only way installing a new SBS could alter the way your device works with MySB would be if it prompted the download of a new firmware, and as far as I understand it would not do that under normal circumstances.
For all practical purposes the answer is no, you can forget about the nightly builds. Any bugs encountered when connecting directly to MySB will have to be corrected on the MySB server.

Ok...thank you. At this time it looks like my case of the disappearing playlist entries is fixed. May be too early to tell for sure but for the last 12 hours the radio entries are not disappearing. I am very gratful for that fix. Alfista, thanks for answering my question. I thoroughly like the Squeezebox products very much.
