Radio sound quality as compared to boom

Would anyone lucky enough to have both care to comment on the comparative sound qualities. I intend to buy one or the other for my daughters birthday - but not sure which way to jump.

Radio sounds very good but is mono, Boom sounds better for a number of reasons.

    Boom audio advantages over Radio:
    - stereo
    - larger enclosure
    - add a sub if desired
    - audio adjustments (bass, treble)
    - StereoXL (selectable DSP)

Actually I believe the Radio has a larger enclosure volume per speaker than the Boom. This helps compensate for having only one speaker in the bass department.

Boom has 2 woofers, 2 tweeters. The woofers have a shared back cavity. The tweeters are independent.

Radio has 1 woofer and 1 tweeter. Again, the tweeter has its own back cavity.

dean, your msg looks cutoff but glad to see you posting!

i would posit that a shared enclosure is in fact bigger in use than the sbradios, b/c even though the boom has two speakers, they both use the one enclosure.

I'm very curious as to the applicability of this paper to the Radio. Were the same type of design and DSP ideas used in the Radio? I understand that the StereoXL stuff and the subwoofer circuitry won't be there, but does the Radio use the same DAC, crossover, bi-amping, and separate headphone DAC?

    Thanks!
    George
