    Problems since installing 7.4

    Dear All,

    a number of unusual issues manifested themselves since I replaced 7.3.3 with 7.4.0 (WHS version) this morning.

    Premise:

    My folder hierarchy is

    //HOMESERVER/Music/MUSIC

    MUSIC contains two shortcuts "MP3" and "FLAC" pointing, respectively to

    //HOMESERVER/Music/MP3 and //HOMESERVER/Music/FLAC

    After the first re-scan, I could not access the MP3 folder via the MUSIC FOLDER submenu of MUSIC LIBRARY (on my Transporter)

    Trying to rescan only created further problems, as Squeezebox Server was either finding nothing in //HOMESERVER/Music/MUSIC or only scanning through one of the shortcuts or scanning more than actually necessary (I have a further folder in //HOMESERVER/Music, called ALLMP3 which contains all of my library in MP3), that is it would scan everything in //HOMESERVER/Music and not only //HOMESERVER/Music/FLAC and //HOMESERVER/Music/MP3 as intended.

    I should not have any issues with permissions - do you have any ideas? Am I doing something grossly wrong?

    regards,

    Giacomo

    An update to the above:

    I have since logged into WHS via Remote Desktop and created the shortcuts in

    //HOMESERVER/Music/MUSIC logged in as Administrator.

    I then proceeded to rescan - after a number of attempts, the rescan was succesful, albeit really rather slow - I can't see anything abnormal in the scanner.log file.

    What does remain an issue is browsing the MUSIC FOLDER on my Transporter: I am able to access the FLAC (via the shortcut) but not the MP3 folder. This is an instance of the issue encountered here

    This may not help, but....

    The paths for my directories have the backslashes pointing the opposite way to yours?

    My music is in: \\Whs1\Music
    not //Whs1/Music.

    Probably irrelevant to your issue, since you would think it would either work or not work.

    just started getting these errors on a windows 2003 box. I can browse most directories but not some. previous fixes in this thread do not apply to my 2003 box.
    switched the same squeezebox server version (7.4) onto a fedora 10_x64 and no problem with the same files.
