Squeezcenter Starting.....and Stops

Just performed a complete reinstall of SC 7.3.3. When turned on the Program Tray icon shows SC is Starting, but it never becomes active.

When using the SC startup options SC begins to load and then stops.

Firewall is off

Windows XP system

Any help appreciated !

Couple of possibilities - do you have any antivirus program running in addition to Windows firewall? If so, disable it and retry.

Also, check that you only have one SC process running, check Windows Task Manager and close down anything Squeezecenter related. Then try and restart.

If no joy with this, what do you see in the Windows Event Viewer during/after you try to restart SC?

All antivirus software is disabled
Only one instance of SC running (SqueezeTray.exe)
Windows Event Viewer is not recording any events when SC is launched or when the Tray icon indicates it is stopped.

Hi

I have had the same problem with 7.3.x for at least 4-5 month now. 1 out of 10 times SC does not start when booting my PC. Tray icon says starting and the green "leds" are flashing, after 20-30 seconds the green leds stops flashing and the tray icon reports stopped.

Re-boot always fixes the problem.

Windows XP-SP3 fully patched
no anti-virus
no firewall

A restart does not help the problem.
Is there an earlier or later version of SC available?

AVG Disabled but not uninstalled

Same result: Icon loads in tray, 'starting' then stops after a few seconds

Undefined subroutine &main::initOptions called at slimserver.pl line 40.


TroubleShooter says

SqueezeCenter is running but can''t be connected to on port 9000

Let's try the following:

Delete the PDK folders that are located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Local settings\Temp
Note: Stop/shutdown SC before removing the PDK folders, and Start SC again afterwards.

Same issue. Finnbrodersen describes the problem accurately, but rather than a 1 in 10 failure, my circumstance are 100% failure.

Here are some descriptions from the Windows Event Viewer, which up until now has not described anything squeezecenter related. Sorry, none of this has any meaning for me:
