I have a Duet that I'm currently using in one room, and am now looking to expand to two more rooms; couple questions.
--I have Verizon FIOS so had the problem with SB working with Actiontec router that is very common; I recently managed to get Verizon tech to help me set up a Linksys router connected to the ActionTec, and am now successfully running SB off the Linksys for the one room. Wondering if anyone who has FIOS and solved the issue by using another router has had any issues making this work for multiple rooms.
--I have seen some older posts claiming that there were issues with Duet's sync functionality when wanting to play the same song in multiple rooms, e.g lags occuring on one of the receivers so that music gets out of sync over time. SB sales assures me that's not an issue, and that the syncing works great and is easy to use w/Duet remote, wondering what folks experiences with this are. (Apologize if this is answered in another existing thread, didn't see anything recent on it when I looked, may have missed it).
Thanks.

I can't answer your first question, but in my experience the sync of hardware players has been solid since the release of SC 7.3.0. I routinely sync multiple players, including SBRs, and it works fine.
Do note, however, that if you plan to use the player function on the SB Controller that it will most likely not sync well with the hardware players, because as a player the SBC is really a software player via SqueezePlay.

I have Fios, the actiontec router, and have put a linksys router in front of the actiontec like you. Its job (the linksys) is just as a wireless access point, and I have configured it that way. Actiontec wireless is off, linksys is on; dhcp comes only from actiontec, etc.
The linksys serves my wireless clients (2 booms) while I have 2 hardwired devices (receiver, sb classic). The controller is on the linksys as well.
All works fine - no issues with syncing at all between any/all devices.
Tom
P.S. the problems I had with DHCP over wireless with the actiontec were pretty much cured with the last (forced) actiontec firmware upgrade from verizon a few months ago, but I have no plans to get rid of the linksys.Last edited by TomS; 2009-07-30 at 19:12.

Thanks for the quick replies...sounds like I should be fine as I mainly use SB to stream Rhapsody, and haven't been using SqueezePlay at all.
Tom, re the firmware upgrade you mention, before I used the Linksys, the Verizon rep walked me through making sure I had the latest ActionTec firmware, but it didn't solve my problem, still had no connectivity. Wonder if you took some additional step that I didn't...but either way you are probably right to stick with using the Linksys, that seems to be the best permanent solution to the issue.

My problems with the Actiontec were twofold:
1. I had set up reserved IPs from the actiontec DHCP server (based on mac address of players and other machines), and those stopped working about a year ago when a firmware update to actiontec was pushed down my throat. I moved everything to true static IP at that point.
2. trouble with devices connecting wirelessly and getting a dhcp-assigned ip. I could connect to the wireless network but the dhcp stuff just wasn't working.
Both of these were seemingly fixed (I only did limited testing) with a firmware update back a few months. It took verizon over a year to push out the actiontec firmware update to fix this, which really pissed me off.
In the meantime, as mentioned, I stuck the linksys in place, but I didn't do anything special otherwise.
As mentioned, I am just going to leave the linksys in place, it's doing just fine there.
Tom
PS: Not at home right now, but I can report the firmware version later if you like. I'm sure it's the same as yours though...
