Unhappy Standby problem w Qnap TS-209 II pro

Yes, this is a never ending story.

Stanby or HDD spindown refuses to work. All is running fine except that I never get the system to standby, which unfortunalty should be most of the time.

My setup Qnap TS-209 II pro with latest firmware v3.1 (MySQL disabled)
    SSODS 3.18 SC 7.3.3
    SWAP directed to USB stick.
-SSODS starts MySQL, is it included in the package?? or is it the one coming with Qnap?

When analysing what is keeping the system "alive" I can see that MySQL is writing something to the disk every no and then (lets says with ~10 seconds in between).

This is happening independently if I'm using SC or not, even after just being launched without any access.

By installing SC on the USB stick, will this move this activity (will MySQL be moved to)?

I post this on this forum an not on Qnap since I see it related to Mysql used by SC.

    Any help appriciated...

    Hi,

do you switch of your clients completely, or do they run in standby with e.g. date/time screensaver.

If so, try to clear the playlists of all your connected clients (even softsqueeze).

Does the SC goes into standby afterwards?

My player are set to go in standby after 15 minutes of silence (powersave plugin).

So my players are all in Standby with screensaver for thoose that super that. Super Date/time (Boom) and weather underground (SB3), my recievers obviously don't have screensaver, controllers just goes black when nothing plays.

Is there a setting to clear playlist on standby?

    Do screensavers interact with MySql?

Hionce i installed super date/time, and i observed a problem with standby. Nevertheless, i also observed a problem with standby with my current setup, when i set the client to standby (with Date/Time Screensaver).

I also observed, that there were access to mysql from scqueezecenter.

When i cleared the playlist manually, the acces to mysql was gone and the NAS went into sleep mode.

Since this process is not nice, i adapted the 'execute script' plugin to solve this issue for me automatically.

So please test first to clear the playlist. Maybe this will help.

    Thanks Mr Hyde,
After clearing the playlist (in the web UI) for all players the MySQL activity stopped.

I tried to listen to several songs/radio then clearing the playlist. When running the blkdevMonitor.sh script i didn't get any records from MySQL.

I saw that you had a solution to automate the clearing of the playlsit, were did you alter the change? Is it a plugin or is some of the main code?

It seems like a solution to my problem, I wish there was an option under players to set an action on standby.

    Hi,

i modified the 'execute script' plugin.

I will PM you the modified version. Pls. take into account, that every time, when you power off the player manually or it does power off itself (e.g. after sleep mode), the playlist is cleared and empty after power on.

    EDIT:
just realized, that i cant't add attachments to pm's.
The plugin is in the attachment. The original version is written by Kevin Deane-Freeman. I've just added one line as documented in the link of my former post. Maybe there is a better way to do this, but it works for me :-)
