    Hush Technologies

Hi all. I've been eyeballing a media server for a while. This one could also run SqueezeCenter (in a real Windows PC)...

    media center - and SC

    Try http://www.tranquilpc-shop.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html

Similar products. Less powerful chips inside. Lower prices. If you just want a fanless media server, you don't need a modern high powered CPU. It's overkill and just creates heat.

An Atom processor or dual atom processor will do the job fine.
GIK Acoustics Room Treatments. Tranquil PC fanless server running Windows 7; SB Touch slaved to Empirical Audio Pace Car; Mytek 192 DSD DAC;Custom Desinged Class AB control amp; Devore Gibbon 9 Speakers; Dual 506 + Ortofon M20 (occasional use); sometimes use PC with M-Audio 192 as digital source. SB Boom in second room. Arcam CD82 which I don't use anymore, even though it's a very good player.

    Hi firedog.

That all depends. If you for example want to run SoX then I have been told you need quite a bit of power ... also you need some power to run a (very) large music collection ... and then, the hush one can also be a media center in other ways ...

    Best regards,
    Claus

I'm running SlimServer on mine, which includes a SOX coverter, and it works fine on an ATOM

I had two music streams that were transcoding (using sox) and 4 music stream that were not all running at the same time on a ATOM box (VortexBox appliance). The CPU load was at about %60. So in less you have a lot of transcoding streams an ATOM is all you need.
rip, tag, get cover art… All you do is insert the CD!

OK, impressive (SoX is not that demanding, after all).

Dude, I dont offer you advice on dealing with panhandlers, squeeze men, telephone sales call or spam. I dont need your input on forum solicitation either. And as i stated earlier, the vendor himself recognises he is going to far, and has committed to changing his ways, so not sure what your input is worth in this case.

Anyway back to thread topic, the Hush boxes are very good. Not cheap but they are good if you need something that has to be in your living room.
