    "Can't find file for:" message

Perhaps somebody could help me figure out what's going wrong.

I just installed a new squeezebox after an old one
    malfunctioned.

I downloaded new server software (5.1.6) into my mac...and
uploaded the firmware update to the squeezebox.

When I tried to access my iTunes files I get the
    message.."Can't find file for:"

It's not for every song...but almost...which is really
    strange.

My files are predominantly AIFF format and I'm using iTunes
    version 4.5

I then loaded server version 5.1.5 and couldn't get it to
work at all. It was just stalled on "player stopped."

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    "Can't find file for:" message

The message "con't find file for" on the player screen is an indication that the
server has been unable to read or play the song file. What you can do is go
into server settings, additional server settings, debugging. check the d_source
box and click change. Then click the link near the top (in the paragraph
describing the log) which will load the log url:

    http://slimserverIP:9000/log.txt

now, try play just one song (not an entire playlist) and watch the log (it
refreshes every 30s). This will give you more detail in regards to the failure.

One other thing you may want to try is to wipe the slimserver cache. Go into
server settings, additional server settings, performance. Click on 'wipe cache'
and wait for the server to rescan your library. This should remove any old data
that might have been left around from versions prior to 5.1.6. The way
slimserver stores song info has changed a great deal in preparation for the
release of 5.2 and sometimes a manual wipe cache can clear up anything that
    doesn't clean up automatically.
