    Duet Receiver Only Question

If I get a Duet receiver only, without the remote control, can I operate if from my laptop with downloaded remote control?

yes, but setup is not "supported" without the controller. Search the
forums, there are ways to do it.

Network configuration is you main problem to resolve.

Since the receiver on its own doesn't have a UI, the issue you face is how to set it up on your network. There is no officially supported way to do this, but there are some Perl Scripts you can download that provide a method do the necessary configuration using text commands.

For more info, look here: http://projects.robinbowes.com/Net-UDAP/trac

This is not a polished or user-friendly program, so it may not suit everyone and as I say it is *not* supported by Logitech. It is possible that you could buy a receiver and find the task of setting it up too difficult to complete, depending on your competence and confidence in such matters.

Once you have the receiver configured properly on your local network, it will be possible to use SqueezePlay or the Web UI to SqueezeCenter to control the player. Squeezeplay can be downloaded from the nighly Beta builds section of the web site, here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.3.

If you can afford it, you might want to consider getting a full Squeezebox Classic, since it will be much easier to set up on the network and will be fully supported by Logitech for that purpose.

Thanks! Sounds like Classic will be more my best bet. Was curious though.

I'm having a heck of a time with my Roku's rebuffering and ready to pitch it.

One of these days, I'll get round to turning this into a SqueezeCenter
    plugin.

However, it's not all that hard to use.

    Try these instructions:

If you have any problems, there's a mailing list:
