I've just added a Duet Receiver (setup by hand because I don't have a Duet Controller) and I'm now getting dropouts on listening to the radio. by drop outs I means that every 20 - 2 minute there will be a brief 1 second pause, sometimes with a little crackle proceeding.
For 2 weeks (after I upgraded SqueezeCenter) all has been well in this respect and the only thing I just changed was adding in the Duet Receiver.
Setup of my system
I'm running Sqeezecenter 7.32 on a QNAP 209 - the web interface is slow but it does.
The QNAP is in a cupboard with Mains networking using dLAN 200's - at '200mps' they are at the high end of what mains units will do I think.
My main player is a Squeezebox 3. It its networked in via a dLAN 200 Mains plug again.
I recently started using iPeng on an Apple iPhone to control the system and that works fine.
When I upgraded to SqueezeCenter 7.32 I wanted to get Alien BBC working for listen again, but I could not figure it out. So I just settled for listing to BBC R4 via selecting
Internet Radio > World > National Networks > BBC > Local Stations > BBC R4
The changes
I've long wanted a second player and originally planed to get a complete Duet (Receiver and Controller), however the IPhone would seem to do enough to control things so I took the saving and just bought a Duet Receiver. I didn't realise the only official way to set them up was with a Duet Controller, until it arrived!
Looking around I found instructions and a Windows exe here:
wiki . linuxmce.org/index.php/SlimDevices_Squeezebox
I just applied the instructions as given
discover
conf 1
set interface=1 lan_ip_mode=1 squeezecenter_address=192.168.80.1
save_data
reset
but with my server address. Having configured with the device using a direct Ethernet linked I actually transferred to working via another dLAN 200 Mains plug. the wish is to keep wifi free of music etc and use Mains for shunting all this stuff around
And all seemed well and I could could control via iPeng and play my music fine - no dropouts etc. However when I went to play radio I get the dropouts. And the perplexing thing is that I am now getting these on the Squeezebox 3 too. I have powered down and totally disconnected the Duet Receiver and also power cycled the QNAP.
iPeng reports the Duet Receiver as Firmware as: 58
Besides linking in via Main, when I go back to to direct Ethernet I get the same - music fine radio not.
Has anybody any ideas?!

Are you only getting drop outs on BBC stations or on other stations as well? I've been getting drop outs on BBC streams all morning.
Who am I on LAST.FM?

If it is a BBC thing then its a bit of news - not had that come up before though I can hardly say I have been listening this way for months and months.
I will check soem other Radio stations...

Same here, I started getting drop outs on live Radio 4 last night and it continued this morning. It got annoying enough that I stopped listening.
Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ?
I SAID ALL OF THEM !

Looks to be affecting a number of hardware platforms:

I confirm I'm not getting this on a couple of other stations I tried at random - 1 in Ireland and the other in Australia.
So it looks like a BBC problem and my question was going to be... is there any one place where people go to share 'live' info about radio/streaming services and if they are up/down/struggling? It looks like not!
Hopefully the widespread nature of this means they will fix rapidly...

Aarghh, k.i.s.s.
Keep It Simple Stoopid!
So in the last 24 hours I happened to have accepted a storage driver update on my Windows Home Server, upgraded the BIOS (whilst I happened to be rebooting) and updated to SqueezeServer 7.3.3.
I then found that last night and this morning the BBC radio streams (wma) were dropping out and decided it must have been one of the recent changes. So having wasted quite some time backing out the various changes I guess I should be relieved that it's actually a problem at the BBC end!
