    Can't play a friends last.fm loved tracks

Using Last.fm, i've tried to play loved tracks for several friends.

Doesn't seem to work anymore. The log just says:

[17:05:10.7685] Slim::Player::StreamingController::_getNextTrack (618) Giving up because of too many consecutive errors: 2

At first I thought maybe the friends I was picking didn't have any loved tracks. However, I know ModelCitizen has some, and it doesn't play his loved tracks.

Is it working for anyone else?

    Phil

Working fine for me via the web interface. How are you trying to initiate the station?

I am assuming you are a paying last.fm subscriber?

Loved stations (either yours, or those from your "friends") is a feature that is only available to paying subscribers...

    Web interface.

Latest SC7.4 trunk code, without the sqlite branch stuff.

Ah, good point. I *was* a subscriber, but it seems my subscription has run out recently. I think last time I subscribed for 3 months, and didn't get a warning when it expired.

I think SC doesn't list the "play loved tracks" for friends if you're not a subscriber, but it's not detecting the change of status, so it still allows me to try. I remember that I had to delete my Last.fm account settings in SqueezeNetwork and recreate after I became a subscriber last time, in order to get the option.

No... I have never subscribed, and the loved tracks station appears for myself, as well as for my "friends"...

My understanding is, if the friend is a subscriber and has Loved Tracks, they will show in SC for anyone who is their friend, but can only be played by another subscriber.

I am pretty curious about how much value the loved tracks stations are... I would think this would be fabulous... If a friend with similar tastes marks their loved tracks, it should be a station that has the "cream of the crop" songs...

I already drop $13/mo on Rhapsody... I have seriously been thinking about adding another $3/mo for last.fm... If nothing else, I think their service is awesome and would like to help support them...

I tried subscribing for a 3-month period to see if I found any benefit in being a subscriber.

I have made use of friends loved tracks, but not sure there's much other benefit. Apparently, you get preferential treatment for streaming if it is busy, but I never had a problem when I wasn't subscribed. I don't use playlists.

I think there's more that could be done to benefit subscribers, but it doesn't cost much.
