I asked this question in another thread, but haven't received any replies. Does anyone currently have Lame working with SC on a Mac? I've set up internet streaming using DynDns, so I can listen to my home library at work. Only problem is most of my stuff is encoded at a relatively high bit (~200-300) rate, and my upload speed is only around 300kbs, so it really bogs down everything. I'd like to do the bitrate limiting down to 128kbs, but I can't seem to get Lame to work. Right now I have the lame executable in "/Library/Application Support/SqueezeCenter/Plugins/". I have stopped and started SC several times and re-booted the computer to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

The problem with that solution is that an upgrade of SqueezeCenter would almost certainly delete lame.
It might be worth trying (I haven't tried it myself) creating a folder /Bin/darwin inside Application Support/SqueezeCenter and putting lame in that.
If it works at all, it would persist through upgrades.

@ ezkcdude
Hello, I've been struggling with the exact same issue for a while. I have Lame installed but SC does not see it.
Which file did you put into /Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefPane/Contents/server/Bin/darwin/ ?
I have put the one below with no success:
-rwxrwxrwx@ 1 Guest _guest 440532 24 aoû 22:42 libmp3lame.dylib
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Charles

These instructions (from http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/AAC) worked perfectly for me--and have solved my problems with getting iTunes+ songs to play without rebuffering:
1. download and install iTunes-LAME from http://blacktree.com/apps/iTunes-LAME/
2. iTunes-LAME should go in ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts
3. Restart the SlimServer service
4. Go to the Player Settings > Audio page and check under BitRateLimiting for this text "The LAME encoder appears to be installed correctly on your system."
