Rather than go off topic and hijack someone else’s thread, I am starting this one based on the today’s thread titled, “Is Slim Server Bit Perfect?” I was not aware of the “optimal” settings that were discussed in that tread. Are there any other recommended settings that the Audiophile Community here is using or recommends? Based on the aforementioned thread, I have reset my player to turn off crossfading features and set the digital volume to 100%. Any other recommendations will be appreciated.
Thanks -

Hi Phil,
Would you explain this one a little more? When I look at the description for "Preamp Volume Control" is says it applies only to the analog outs. Like the OP, I am using an external DAC and FLAC files (but with a SB3) so I'm not sure I understand why something that affects only the analog outs is relevant.
Thanks.Regards,
Bob

The theory is that by effectively muting the analogue outputs it will minimise any "contribution" that the analogue circuitry makes to the digital replay chain. I stress the word "theory".
As I cautioned the OP, I remain unconvinced that any of these settings impact what one actually hears... (apart from using the digital volume control at low levels). You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
