Ah found the Extension Downloader in the plugin section of settings, and once I'd gone into the settings for ED I was able to then select the BBC iPlayer add-in and yes I can hear audio from that thank-you.

For future reference :
solution to my BBC iPlayer problem was that the plugin doesn't work through Softsqueeze.
As soon as I got to an environment where I had squeezeboxes it worked just fine.

Were you using Softsqueeze 3.9b1 or 3.7 ?

3.7 has problems playing WMA streams and other transcoded streams on SC 7.3.x and higher.
Use 3.8 or 3.9b1

So are we saying that the only method supported by the BBC for internet radio is via the iPlayer route? A friend of mine using a squeezebox boom is still accessing the BBC radio channels using the opml.radiotime.com links. So I'm confused why none of my slim devices work with that method :-?
