Squeeezecenter or Network timing out during the night

Hi, I've had the Boom for a couple of weeks now and I use it as a radio while I'm sleeping. I'll go to bed, wake up during the night and it will have lost the connection to Squeeze Center. Why is this happening? Is it Squeezecenter or my network? I thought maybe there is a setting somewhere to keep this from happening. I'm not a real techie type so if it's with my network, then I'll appreciated a detailed answer. Thanks in advance.

    Sleeping PC?

Is the PC/Mac you have SqueezeCenter running on going into sleep or hibernate mode (powersave)?

    WiFi? Strong signal? WiFi interference?
Any automated PC routine scheduled for that time (anti-virus update, backup procedure, downloads)?

Bigchris, yeah it's set to go to sleepafter 15 minutes but it does this all day long and I'm able to play the Boom.

Toby, wireless strength is always around 90%, so as I was wondering is it possible for the network to just time out from time to time? NO WiFi interference that I'm aware of. I'll check for any schedules programs running through thr night.
Thanks, will get back to you if problem persists.

If you are playing the boom all day long, then the active connection is probably keeping the PC alive, whereas at night when it's essentially in sleep mode it's probably allowing the PC to sleep too and thus losing connection.

    Just a guess.

Try setting your PC for one night to not sleep and see if it helps.

I've encountered this due to having the Rescan Music Library plugin set to run at a certain time during the night. Even when I am just listening to one of the Sounds & Effects. Just throwing another possibility at you.

Also what is the lease time set to on your wireless router?

Some routers allow you to limit the lease time of any DHCP address - it could be that your lease is expiring so the router is stopping the Boom from connecting until you ask for a new lease (by reconnecting the Boom to the network).

Some more discussion here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...ime#post356670 and a few post below.

Or, if you are listening to some Internet Music Service (or Radio) and your provider force-terminates the connection every 24 hours, you might run into this.

This is a thing still quite popular with ADSL connections over here in Germany: Providers force-terminate the connection every 24 hours, the routers will immediately reconnect, but you get another IP and this will break streaming music services like Internet Radios.

Good point. Another possibility is the current streaming station. Some stations "kick" any IP that has been logged in for a period of time to clear out their servers. You will get a "disconnected" message on your player yet it will still show the station name. If nothing is actually being streamed for a while this would make the computer go to sleep (if set to do so).

This is easily resolved on SC7 by puting the station into the playlist twice. When stream one disconnects then SC7 starts to play stream two (same station), if it disconnects again SC7 goes back to stream one, etc..

I've changed the lease time of any DHCP address to infinite so I don't lose my connection anymore. But, now my PC won't go into sleep mode; it runs at full power all night. Is there a way to have Squeezecenter running all while the PC is in sleep mode? Not a big deal but does running the PC 24/7 eat a lot of power, or is it not enough to worry about?
