    Exclamation 7.3.3-26246 + Duet = Broke

    Hello,

I have a SB3 and a Duet (both via WLAN), SqueezeCenter on Windows Vista SP1, an AVM Fritzbox 7170 WLAN running B+G (SC connected to AP via ethernet). Standard Wireless - Controller wireless to Access Point, Receiver wireless. I updated to "SqueezeCenter-7.3.3-26246" and the Duet can't connect to the wireless LAN anymore.

    FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 Firmware-Version 29.04.70

    SC Version: 7.3.3 - 26246 @ Wed Apr 29 03:07:21 PDT 2009

I don't know if the following information is correct: 1) since the controller didn't connect anymore after update and 2) The issue is with the controller and not the reciever:

    "Player Model: receiver
    Firmware: 60
    Player IP Address: 192.168.0.200
    Wireless Signal Strength: 66%"

The SB3 runs fine (as it always has) but the Controller can't connect to the WLAN anymore.

Interestingly then: I see that the reciever is connected to the WLAN (I can see its info on the AP) but the controller isn't. The controller is going through the WLAN setup routine and can't find the WLAN and can't connect to it when I enter all the info in by hand.

Taking the batteries out didn't help.

    I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    -Z

    Hi Zn0rt

Have a look at the "sticky" at the top of this forum page, I think its relevant to what is happening to you.

Hmm, there seem to be some discussions about new firmware for the controller and the reciever. Unfortunately its no longer clear which firmware should be used.

For example, I have newer firmware installed (via the upgrade that killed the controller) than is being mentioned in two stickies relating to other controller issues that might be fixed with newer(?) / older(?) firware.

    Post Information thats missing

    I would like to know:

    1) Exactly what firmware should I use? Please post a link to the file. How is this file to be named on the SD card? Copied directly into the root directory of the SD card? Then start the controller and hold the + key (until? The intro music starts?)

    2) How do I implement bridged mode?

Bridged mode is not officially supported on the Duet. You can only configure it using the Net::UDAP app that Robin Bowes put together. Search the forums for more info.

[Project Log] Funkstars Digital Lifestyle - HEXUS.Community

    In use: 1x Touch, 1x Boom, 2x SB3, 1x Controller
    In a box: 1x Radio, 1x (Beta) Controller, 1x Receiver, 1x SB2 wired (silver), 1x SB (black), 1x SliMP3 (with rear shield)

If you have any others, let me know, I'm interested!!

Thanks for the info. I will try the SD firmware up/downgrade (still haven't gotten that working).

I now have "jive_7.3_r3993.bin" copied to an SD card, inserted to into the controller. The reciever is connected to the router via ethernet. Both reciever and controller have been factory reset.

Controller doesn't do anything new: boots, and asks for WLAN info, fails to connect. Doesn't seem to do anything with firmware.

Thumbs up How to install Controller firmware via SD Card

I figured out how to go back to an older controller firmware!

    Problem:

    1) The option to "Connect Via Squeezebox" was not available
    2) WLAN autodetect was not working
    3) WLAN manual connect also failed

    ergo: big trouble.

How to update your controller firmware when all connectivity options fail:

    1) Copy a firmware file of your choice to an SD card.
    - In my case I copied "http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.3/jive_7.3_r3993.bin" to the SD card.
    2) Put the SD card in the controller (requires removing the battery)
    3) Put the battery back in, allow the controller to boot
    4) HOLD DOWN the left arrow key
    - Unfortunately this didn't come across to me in all my reading. "Pressing" the left arrow key only goes back to the first menu, which is to set your language. You are stuck there. By _holding down the left arrow key_, you get to the real home menu!
    5) Select Settings: Advanced: Firmware Upgrade
    6) Choose the firmware on the SD card
    7) Wait for the upgrade to finish and controller to reboot

    What happens then?

In my case two things: I can see my wireless network again, and the option to connect via the hard-wired receiver ("Connect Via Squeezebox") is back, but I didn't even need to use that option.

Lesson: Don't upgrade your controller firmware (ie. don't install a new SqueezeCenter version) unless you really really have to. Its best to wait a few weeks to see what others say in the forum about the new SC version. If its no good, don't touch a thing! If it seems to work for many, well, then good luck!

    Hi,

I re-installed (thus downgraded) the matching SqueezeCenter (7.3.2). After the re-install of SC I rebooted the PC where it ran. After that the SB3 and the Duet functioned normally again.
