Hi,
Yesterday, SqueezeControl for Android was published on the marketplace (free). Among the features are:
* Playback and volume controls
* Music library browsing and (incremental) search
* Cover art
* Username and password authentication support
SqueezeControl uses the CLI interface of SqueezeCenter for low latency control, browsing and search.
I've been using it privately for a while, but it worked so well that I deciced to wrap it up and put it out there. So far the reception has been very good. Moving forward, I hope to find the time to improve it. Top features on the roadmap are:
* Radio station support
* Power on / off devices
* Improved playlist management support
* Improved handling of missing network connections (i.e when the device is coming out of sleep mode and the WLAN still is inactive)
* General UI polish
Give it at spin by searching for SqueezeControl at the market place and let me know what you think!
Regards,
Dag

This sounds great! Do you have any screenshots available? (there's no
Android phone available in Switzerland...)

Authentication support
I've gotten a few request about authentication support. This has been implemented and is currently in testing. I hope to release a new version before the weekend.

Thanks!
Dag - this thing works great! Thank you very much for making a great app.
I think the basic features are wonderful but here's somethings I think could make this even better:
1. clear active playlist feature or replace it when choosing a new album
2. add whole albums instead of song by song to playlist
3. add internet stations to it?
thats really about it for now...

On/Off
Thanks for starting development on this - it really is excellent. A question I have is how do I use it to turn off the squeezebox? I can't find a way.
Cheers

integrating a basic player
Hi guys!
I'm writing this, via VNC and my Ubuntu machine, from my G1 - it appears the site doesn't play nice with the in-built browser...
anyway, I wanted to know whether you have any intention of adding a stream player to this app, making your app a combination player and remote. If it's not possible, then it's fine, but it would be good to make my G1 become my portable slimplayer
All the best, Jon "The Nice Guy"

That would definitely be nice, and I'd also like to be able to download tracks from SqueezeCenter onto the device to take it with you on the go. Has anybody reading this tried anything like it? I haven't really looked into how audio is streamed to the devices.
[Edit] I checked it out and it turns out to be rather easy. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I'll be looking into both of these things later, but I'll focus on the features currently on the roadmap first. This is obviously just a pet project at the moment and my spare time is limited.
