Can someone convince me why I shouldn't return my duet?

I bought my duet a week ago...

I was very excited when amazon shipped it to me via courier... when I got it out of its box... I had a problem straight away because the damn thing wouldnt charge... I had a faulty charging unit... so back to amazon it went... and now I have a shiny new one.

This one charges great... all works... except..

It doesnt do what it should do... seriously... there are too many bugs in the firmware.

Sometimes.. when its gone to sleep, the only way to turn the receiver back on again and connect to my wifi is to turn it off and back on again.

I know the sound coming from the controller is BETA, but I do feel they should have sorted that one out straight away, because its marketed as being able to do that straight out of the box.... - I cant get my headphones to work (I know there is an outstanding bug on this) and when I try to sync the controller speaker with the reciever, it doesnt work.

Does anyone else think that for just under 250 quid... it should be a more polished product that what has been sold?

Put it this way... I wouldnt accept a mobile phone that had this many faults.

Please... can someone convince me not to return this beatiful machine... Im a captive audience... but I have gone from LOVING it to thinking... well its kinda ok.... but needs a few bugs fixing.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Where do you think you saw the Controller as a player feature marketed ? Both the SlimDevices and amazon product description do not even mention that the Controller has a head phone socket.

From what I have seen SD/Logitech have been very careful not to promote Controller as a player as a feature yet.
Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ?
I SAID ALL OF THEM !

Perhaps you could try asking for help on the forums on your specific issues if you haven't done so already. Official support is also available trough Logitech channels. Most problems seems to get solved.

Then you could certainly not have been among the early adoptors of phones such as the Nokia N95 or Sony Ericsson P900. My Nokia runs the 5. th generation (I think) firmware and still reboots occasionally for no apparent reason. Buggy firmware has been a recurring problem in "high-end" phones.

Anyway, I'll agree the Duet still has some annoying bugs. In a perfect world it wouldn't, but I dare claim that the quality is on par with comparable (i.e. 1/2 years on the marked and a result of a major design/development process) products. As I said above it should be very stable now and most problems seems to be solvable.

Simple. It is a very nice and capable system, which is probably why you bought it anyway!

It already works well now, and it will for sure also improve. Slimdevices has a history for supporting their products, even with updates etc. for *many* years. The oldest player from ~2000 is still officially supported. The SB3 which has been on the marked for about 5 years is of course supported, and still regularly receives firmware updates.

I follow the changes in the source-code repositories with half an eye and I can assure you that new code is being added every day. Btw. what version are you running. Some of your problems may even be solved in the latest development releases.

ok... si I am loving it a little more

    Hi... thanks for the reply.

Maybe I did just assume then, that the headphones socket on the controller was to be used straight out of the box....

anyhoo, my firmware for my controller is 7.4-r5226.

Im starting to love it again today... it hasnt stopped working once... so fingers crossed...

for now... it's gonna stay out of the box it came in
