BPA, I just wanted to say between my wife and I, we use Softsqueeze.jar 3.9beta very heavily (at least twice a day between the two of us). I hope you dont think that people aren't using softsqueeze just because they aren't posting here. We are mostly happy campers; hence, not posting here. It would be nice though to get those remaining bugs fixed...

The only remaining bug that affects me is when playing back local media, the first couple of seconds always get cut off. Im not sure what other bugs there are.

Softsqueeze is just being maintained and not enhanced. AFAIK a Softsqueeze connection to mysbs not through SBS would require changes to mysbs as well as additions to softsqueeze. This is unlikely to happen since Squeezeplay provides this functionality and there is little point in duplicating such functionality.

Question Java applet through webpage not working anymore

I used to be able to access a java applet of slimplayer via a web browser by pointing to:

    http://localhost:9000/html/softsqueeze/applet.html

However, with the newer Squeezebox, that link doesnt work. I just get a blank screen. I already enabled the Slimplayer 3.9b2 plugin... and, it shows up under active plugins/CommunitySoftSqueeze (V.39b2). Settings buttons also doesnt work and gives an error.

How can I get it to work? I really need this to work since my Andriod based mobile doesnt have any kind of Squeezebox client whatsoever; however, does support java.

Thanks in advance for the quick response!
    Michael

This is the URL which launches the applet code although I think the applet.html needs modifying to work with change Softsqueeze.jar

    http://localhost:9000/plugins/softsq...ml/applet.html

What is this applet supposed to do ? I see no reference to it so I assumed it was a remnant.

Hi BPA, thanks for the quick reply back. The applet allows you to have a softsqueeze client embedded in the web browser. This is the only way I know to get a Squeezebox client from my Android based mobile phone. I'm actually very surprised I couldnt find a single Squeezebox client for the Android OS; not even in alpha/beta stage.

    Anyway,

When I enter the URL below, i get the following error:

    "Failed to get Softsqueeze Libraries."

Where is the actual (default) location on a Windows file system? I'm guessing I need to manually copy the jars and other related files to the location? I've already spent a couple of hours trying to figure out where the files go; and,if they are even copied after I enable/download the Softsqueeze plugin through the server settings.

Why don't you let SBS WebUI install Softsqueeze for you ?

Doesn't Android have a special version of Java and not standard ?

The Softsqueeze.jar file already has all the necessary jar files for standard Java.

Hi BPA, you might have missed that I already did that. I didnt get any errors when installing. I'm not sure which version of java is on Android, but it's the only hope I have right now that it might work.

    PS:

I just copied the files from the Softsqueeze 3.9b2 zip file to the below folder:

    C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\server\HTML\EN\html\softsqueeze

Now, the client loads up (if I double-click the actual applet.html file directly), but cant see the local server:

If I use the link you gave me, it times out eventually and says it cant find the SoftSqueeze libraries.

What does Java console show ?

Have you tried running Softsqueeze.jar from a shell prompt ? It's the best way to see startup error.
