7.3.x should be good - due to names changes 7.4 may cause install issues.

What Linux distro are you using for your SC ?

    Same problem

I thought I would switch to 3.9b1 after experiencing the "2 streams" bug.

So I uninstalled 3.8 and tried to use the plugin to get 3.9b1

I can check the box in the plugins page but once the server restarts the box is unchecked again and Softsqueeze is not on the Extras menu.

This is on a 7.4.1 nightly.

Am I doing something wrong or should I just download the zip?

If Softsqueeze is not checked - it is not installed.

Clear browser cache and force reload of browser page in case it was not updated.

    Check log for error messages.

Don't use the zip - it has a library version problem.

I've tried clearing the cache: no difference.

Not only does the box not stay checked, also I still get the message to restart the server, even after restarting, both via the "restart now" button and manually.

I can't get the plugin installed at all.

It doesn't seem to be downloading anything...

On the other hand I downloaded the Zip file and I can get the jar running - so I'm sort of happy.

Repeated "restart now" messages usually means the download failed in some way and the checksum doesn't match. I've seen this before as Softsqueeze is a large download for a plugin and I think a timeout kicks in and truncates the file.

You can check if this is happening by enabling in WebUI Settings/Advanced/Logging server.plugins to INFO and make sure the check box "save logging settings for use at next application restart" is checked and then click apply and then restart SBS.

Then check the server log for message about Softsqueesze after restart and all the plugin restart prompts.

I got this in the log

    [09-10-21 17:14:29.7119] Slim::Utils::PluginDownloader::install (159) install - downloading SoftSqueeze from http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl...eeze-v39b1.ZIP

Not sure why everything is twice.

Anyway it says digest does not match. Any way to fix that or should I just keep trying?

OK - you've confirmed my suspicions.

I think this problem is due to a change in Plugin downloader in 7.4.so I need to redo the plugin to make it more reliable in future.

In the meantime a possible workaround.

All downloads get cached so a bad download will just be reused each time you try so when you stop SBS - delete the FileCache directory in the Cache directory used by SBS (you can find this in Settings/Information)

The timeout value is controlled by the value in Setting/Advanced/Network/Radio Station Timeout so if you change this value to max (60) it might works as long as you don't have a slow connection and/or no network congestion.
